My husband unexpectedly passed away two months ago. He was the love of my life, best friend, and soulmate. He was the absolute best husband. We played this song at his celebration of life service. My mom just passed away of cancer. She raised me as a single parent and passed when i was 14. The Lord healed her the first time she Got it. but 6 months later, it came back again, i knew he could heal her again. And to this day, 4 months later i still wrestle with the question 'why?". And I may never know that answer but what i do know is, if he can bring my mom out of drug addiction, then he can bring me out of greif. I trust his plan and i listen to this song whenever i want to feel close to her.

I had to watch her die while sitting there on the couch. She never was frightened. She missed my stepdad he passed 2017. She gave up and died of a broken heart. I miss her and the pain sometimes is unbearable. I wanted to die when she went to be with Jesus. That's what people tell me too. Since my husband's death I have found that the Bible truly came to life! When God spoke of "The two would become"ONE FLESH" Throughout these years since his death I realized that I'm not so much "a widow" but an amputee! Half of me is gone and nothing can make me whole again. Just bidding my time and waiting to join him with our Lord and I want so much for him to be proud of me for "hanging in there" and making it until we see each other again. I am so sorry for both of your losses. I too lost my husband just a year and a half ago, and this song is now my favorite, but wow, do the tears flow! My husband passed just one week after being admitted to the hospital, and finding out he had liver cancer was a shock...the biggest shock was it was so advanced, and that he was too far gone and weak for treatment to even save his life. Was thankful that he didn't suffer long, but at the same time felt so cheated and helpless all at once. I know what you mean Ghost Writer that a piece of you went with your husband, because I feel the exact same way. I thank God every single day for all the years we had together, even though it wasn't long enough! I am so looking forward to the day we will be reunited in Paradise, and the only scars will be on the One who holds us all. YOU SAW them seeking comfort from the above mentioned topography, ONE OF THE MANY MARVELS YOUR PERFECT HANDS HAVE MADE. 👏👏👏 YOU SAW their worries about tomorrow. If their hearts were a window that they could look through, oh the pains and scars they would see. What a cruel fate the skin gives as a mask to the inward pain. But the skin couldn’t cover THE SUFFERING YOUR ONE AND ONLY SON BORED on the cross as PAYMENT for all our sins because HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ALONE HAD THE MERIT TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF YOUR HOLINESS. Only by drawing nearer to YOU LORD will put them on a path to a glorious one way trip winding upward to YOU where pain is not welcome because the heart will never break anymore. For ONLY YOU UNDERSTANDS our tears since YOU LOOK at the heart, while humans look at the flesh. O LOVE that will not let them go. When they don't have the strength to try, and have cried all they can cry hear their hearts that need YOU more today than yesterday. Mayb you find the wisdom and the guidance you need for every step of the way and the strength to do the right thing. In Jesus Name Amen. With your family member who has dementia, you may know this already, some things you have to accept they have forgotten because each time you remind them that is not the case, you take them back through things over and over each time. It is sometimes best to just go with what they think is true. If they ever forget you as a member of their family, if they think you are the cleaner and you keep reminding them I'm your child etc then realise it is best to let go and be the best cleaner friend you can image. Then say As your cleaner, can I be part of your family like a real son / daughter? Play along if it works out that they treat the cleaner nicely. Hope this makes sense. God bless

Aug 30 will be the 3 year anniversary of losing my 28 year old son. He died 2 days after I put my dad in a home for dementia. The comfort I take is knowing I will see him again. Jesus is our strength, and I know I could not have got through it without him. But each time the tears came (and still come from time to time), I feel His comfort as He reminds me that He's got my son and now my dad as well, in His care. I first heard this song 3 yrs ago on my car radio just days after my husband died. I had to pull off the road and sob. It felt as though it was written for me. I had left my husband in the er to go home to accept delivery of hospice equipment. He was at the end of a long journey with cancer. He was to be brought home by ambulance. His nurse called and said i should come. He was not responsive when i arrived but i got to hold his hand and talk to him for the last 20 minutes of his life. I still cry every time i hear this song but i also am comforted by its message. I know where my husband is and I know I will see him again. Thank you Jesus for your scars.

If I could talk to Casting Crowns members I would tell them that this song was the song I chose for my husbands funeral (2 weeks ago) because the lyrics touched so deep. Your song has touched me and everyone at his celebration of life with full force. I can never listen to this song without crying both with sadness and also joy, sadness because If I had only known the Last Time would be the last Time, and Joy because my husband now has both legs which were amputated 7 years ago after a motorcycle accident. I would often tell him that in Heaven he will have his legs, and no scars. Bill was doing great the day before then suddenly he died. While praying in my car for something to help me with my crushing grief, your song came on the radio. I know it was a direct answer to my prayer. Your words hit me to my soul and when you said “the only scars in Heaven are on the hands of the one who holds you now” I saw him, in Jesus’s hands. It played like a real time just video in my mind. My God and Savior gave me a gift. A view into Heaven for a brief few seconds to see my loved was being carried in the hands of my Savior. What more precious thing to witness could there be. I know a man who always tried to treat his mother well. He was a real good person. One day his mom visited him and asked him to fix her battery cable as she left. He complained a little but fixed it. I came across this video by accident this morning and I immediately thought of my friend and her husband, and here she is! I hadn't watched the whole thing, so my daughter and I did, and we talked about my friend, and another lady we lost a couple of years ago to a long illness. ("Even If" was our theme song, then.) The song's meaning is so deep and reassuring that everything we suffer here on earth is known in Heaven, and it can be used by God on earth to ultimately be a blessing to others if we will trust Him and persevere. When we get to Heaven, all scars and suffering will be gone except the scars in Jesus' hands. Even my barely believing husband, who passed in 2006, is in Heaven now because he cried out to Jesus with his last breath. That gives me comfort and I share that truth with others.

I heard this song a month or so and it melted my heart after losing my Dad to COVID on Valentine's Day. Then, Monday, June 19, 2021, I lost my 31 year-old son ... it's my go-to for comfort right now. These lyrics were absolutely Divinely inspired - thank you for hearing our Lord's voice. We're praying that God will turn our pain into peace!

@@natalie_xo1839 and Swade - I just heard this song for the first time tonight as I was making dinner. It was on a Christian radio station that I listen to. I stopped in my tracks and it brought me to tears as I thought of the last days with my dad. He died of Covid last April 2020. Every day I miss him and this song just brought it all back. I was able to be with him at the senior living facility as he passed. The greatest moments of my life. He was 90 and had Parkinson's. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

I lost my daughter in 1990. I miss her dearly, she was 12 years old. There's been the empty space in my heart since she has left this world. But, I know that she is with Jesus now. That's where I find comfort. Don't get me wrong. I still have my tears, but I also know that she is in no pain, she has no heartaches, and that Jesus is taking care of her. I couldn't even take care of her as well as he can. There's comfort in knowing that she is going to be with Jesus forever. She definitely was a gift from God, and she has always and will be forever my angel. Like the song says, she is being held and protected by Jesus, and as the song says the only scars in heaven is in his hands.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of my husband's passing out of this world from a tragic accident in our home. Every year I work thru this day with the help, strength, and courage of the Lord, thanks and glory be unto Him alone. This song just came on the radio and was a perfect reminder of God's goodness and faithfulness to me thru the most difficult day and season of my life! All glory belongs unto Jesus, my Savior and faithful Friend, who never leaves me, nor for sakes me! Thank you, Casting Crowns, for this most beautiful and timely song! 😊

Had to hear this today. Mom is in the hospital, and probably will not make it back out. I prayed for her that in her time still here she accepts Jesus fully - and finds the peace she didn't have in her broken life, in this broken world. Even in the storm - give Jesus, give God praise!

I lost my Hero, my Daddy on Feb 9, 2019, buried him on valentines day. My life has never been the same. Now my mom resides in a facility with severe dementia. She doesnt even know me. Life is hard. The only thing that helped me when Dad passed, was knowing he was no longer suffering and at home with Jesus. Time helps, but doesnt fix the missing part this song talks about. Mom will most likely be joining Dad soon. Bless her little heart she has been through very tough times. How glorious is what is waiting on her ahead, its bittersweet. But that you Jesus for making it possible - that we can all be together with you some day soon. Hallelujah and Praise the Lamb that was slain for the sins of the world.

I'm so grateful for this message! My husband is 4 years into a stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis - in active treatment. It continues to grow and spread, and will take him one day. "If I had only known the last time would be the last time...." speaks to me. I daily make the decision to spend as much time as possible by his side, and do all the things we've always talked about doing. I know the Lord will call him home one day soon, but we're living with no regrets now.

But there is a place called heaven so I’ll see her! My brother preached in our church and talked about my grandmother who passed away, and my dad was crying I went running and hugged him tight! Since to know and follow your SPIRIT is more exciting than any 007 movies, and YOU DELIGHT MAKING the ordinary into extraordinary. Lastly, LORD when they call on YOU in earnest prayer to come into their hearts to be born again (repentance manifesting itself in a changed life), I pray that YOU WILL GIVE them the blessed assurance of their salvation because nothing breaks YOUR HEART, or tears YOU apart like when they cry from the trials of the devil who comes to slander, falsely accuse, steal, kill & destroy. Only by drawing nearer to YOU LORD will put them on a path to a glorious one way trip winding upward to YOU where pain is not welcome because the heart will never break anymore. For ONLY YOU UNDERSTANDS our tears since YOU LOOK at the heart, while humans look at the flesh. O LOVE that will not let them go. When they don't have the strength to try, and have cried all they can cry hear their hearts that need YOU more today than yesterday.
