The way that he walks out of the precinct is just so heartbreaking. No pep in his step, no smile/smirk/joy of everyday life...it's just a regular walk. It's just heartbreaking.

What I got from this moment was Beckett was in GIRLFRIEND mode more than cop mode. All she wanted to do was comfort Castle the way he has always comforted her with her mother's case.

maybe so but there is another interpretation. in hindsight we already know that she at least guessed at what was really going on but I wouldn't necessarily call this a tipping of the hand. Remember, Gates is former internal affairs. she has essentially given Kate permission to cross lines that would normally see her in hot water with her bosses...and Kate knows it, hence the thank you. That said I love Caskett and this is a great moment.

I think she knew before that, at least as early as *After Hours, but probably suspected earlier. *(The parents showing up together was a dead giveaway). The thing is that Gates wasn't used to Caskett's non-relationship relationship. I think one of the reasons the others missed the signs was because the signs had been there from the start but despite that nothing happened between them and when it did, on the surface not much changed except the "busted" looks and Beckett bringing Castle coffee.

I know what the you're saying the bond/connection has always been there from the start. What changed wasn't Caskett dynamic in a serious RELATIONSHIP it was seeing them be affectionate, staying over night at eachothers place, hand holding, kissing, . Hugging and building theory together never changed it just got more intensified.

Exactly!!!! The drawer is Beckett telling Castle she wants a FUTURE with him while she doesn't care if people find out. Because in 5*1 she wasn't ready to let anyone know that Castle was her boyfriend, but had to tell Espo/Ryan in probable cause because they saw her phone records with him ,plus Castle was a suspect in that case even though Jerry Tyson framed him.

See Castle WANTED their relationship to out in the open he didn't care if everyone found out. Now Beckett wanted to keep it a secret she wasn't ASHAMED but,because if Gates found out she would lose her job and Castle as her partner permanently. Castle agreed to it cause he was in love with Kate and didn't want to jeopardize her job or their partnership.

From Castles pov he's never had a wife/girlfriend exception of Kira because like Rick she was REAL. As I was saying hes never had a girlfriend he can be vulnerable with, cry in front of, challenge him, stand by his side, comfort him without him asking. Beckett was the only ONE, you can see she loves him just by being there for him. She doesn't have to say it because Kate's eyes say it all.
