This was a tremendous help and saved me $$$ from buying a field or PC programmer. I suggest for other programmers that you have an idea of what you want all your settings to me he first time around. For example, if you don't know what you want #8 to be, going back to programming #8 could take time Thanks to this video I was able to do it right the first time through.

Thank god! was able to use this to disable drag brake and put the reverse higher. I kept getting stuck in rough terrain because I lacked power to reverse and was up against an obstruction. I also turned the drag brake off because it kept straining my gearing on 3s, shredded a spur gear and kept loosening my pinion gear from the sudden shock of full drag brake. The ESC was part of an 2wd RC i bought used and i moved it to a 4x4 thus the change was needed. But having to go all the way to setting 7 to change to nickel is kind of annoying, a dead traxxis ESC I had in the 4x4 before it was just holding the power button down for 10 seconds to change the voltage cutoff.

Hi! Every time you start the manual programming process, it begins on option one, setting one. This doesn't mean it didn't save the previous settings. Unfortunately, though, with manual programming, there is no way to know other than responsiveness of the vehicle. With the Castle link however, you can interface with a PC and see your changes as they are saved with the software program.

Holy shit bro lol Im having exactly the same issue lol just started up my two year old XO1 and my transmitter does exactly the same thing and like you I have no idea if it's saved my previous settings bit of a fucking joke to be honest and the two RC shops and traxxas uk rep that I've spoken to also have no clue either lol nice bloke though and he's going to contact traxxas US for me cause I can't fucking register my XO1 so I now I can't unlock it for 100mph+ and it's this castle creations mamba monster ESC that's the problem. Luckily I bought castle link programming thing at the same time 👍🏻 so I'm gona program it on my PC and like you bro ill see what happens......

Sorry didn't realise I was replying to castle themselves lol so you know there is an issue with your own hardware, yes?? So why haven't you fixed it years ago?? And traxxas has told me you guys have maybe put the wrong software onto the XO1 ESC and to send it back to the US well seeing I'm in the UK I can't do that and seeing it's two years old too it's passed its guarantee, sad. I only just found this out now cause I crashed it the first time I drove it lol and never got round to fixing it until the other day. Is there a fix for my XO1 ESC so the traxxas link app can recognise it because every time I try to unlock it for 100mph the link app tells it can't find a lockable device?? I ask because everything seems to point to a software problem with ESC. And great video by the way 👍🏻

hey castle, just purchased a used losi with the sidewinder micro sport. when I get out of range or the radio gets shut of before the ESC it goes to full throttle. how can I stop this from happening. thanks

I just bought a vaterra twin hammers with the castle sidewinder 3combo. It ran great the first 2 times. Its used by the way. Anyhoo I was going to run it one last time before got dark. Plugged battery in turn control on turn car on and North but chiming coming from each and also blinking red yellow and green. My first castle set up so I have no clue. HELP!!

I just purchased a castle/esc combo......I go through the setups exactly like you do...but once I go back to do them again....it's like it don't store them in memory, almost like it don't store your inputs.

As you are going through the manual programming, it will start on the first option of each setting every time. This does not mean the ESC is programmed for that option, but it has to start on the first option. This means there is no way to know how the ESC is currently program as you are working through the programming process.

Dear sir, The manual for the sidewinder 3 that Castle have on website to download only show 6 programable options. That manual is not correct, because it have 9 options in program mode, just like you show in your video. I thank you for your help, and please, if you could, tell castle manager to correct the manual on website, because are making clients think they esc is broken, because the order os the 6 options is not even same as the 9 option, so the cars will not have brake and other problems

PLEASE HELP! My ESC doesn't have any brakes at all it just goes instantly into reverse. If I'm already going in reverse it will just go instantly into forward. No brakes at all

It sounds like the throttle channel is backwards. Watch the LEDs on the ESC when pulling the trigger. If red, reverse throttle channel on the transmitter, and then calibrate. If the wheels go the wrong way after you can either swap any 2 motor wires (because it's sensorless) or use a Castle Link to change the motor direction.

Try reverse your thortlle Channel I assume you changed transmitter. Worked for me like gold

Ok!!! HEADS UP RC FANATICOS...a friend gave me a HPI FLUX VAPOR ESC. and it turns out they have the same beeping, same led indicators, and so I tried the sequence. Before attempting this. The ESC is actually not working, it just stay on yellow as I connect the battery. My receiver is FLYSKY FS-Gr3E and transmitter FS-GT3B binded. By following the VIDEO instruction carefully from start to end. Guess what? The ESC is now working.

Usually if an ESC will not go into manual programming mode it is because the ESC has not been properly calibrated to your radio. If the ESC is not seeing a full throttle signal it will not enter the programming mode. When you power up the vehicle/ESC at neutral you should see a yellow/amber LED; after it is armed, when you apply full throttle you should see a solid green LED. If it turns red when you apply throttle then your radio's throttle signal is backwards and needs to be reversed.

If its sound quality... who cares, it was such a perfect tutorial of how to use the transmitter programming mode. It has helped do many people. Think before you trash talk something of value. @@andrewharris6579 you should think before you type. Painful because it's so easy to lose track of where you are counting the damn beeps Nobody was "trash talking", you assumed what was not said. Years ago diagnostic trouble codes in cars were read by flashing check engine light when the aldl pins were shorted. That worked at the time(1980ish), but it was the Atari of diagnostic methods looking back. And it was confusing if you blinked while watching for the flashes. I bought the programming card because trying to keep track of the beeps is a pita, and with the card I can tune 1 thing at a time without going through the aggravation.
