And hilariously, neither of them got what they wanted. Gendo never gets to reunite with his wife as EVA01 has an AT field so strong that Yui's soul can never leave it, even during Instrumentality. And the audience gets exactly ONE giant robot in the whole damn show, and there is not even a fight with it.

bullshit, while watching the rebuild movies, it dawned on me that everything would have gone fine if more then ONE person wasn't a massive piece of shit to shinji......and that one person was the cold analytical scientist who at least explained things to him and didn't just emotionally assault him the whole series. if Misako had halfway decent people skills and actually treated a literal child like a troubled child, the world wouldn't have turned into a puddle of goo. So I've always sympathized with shinji and Gendo will always be histories greatest monster.

Should be noted that Eva from what I read didnt go really bad because of budget, it went bad because of time constraints and the fact they had to literally scrap an episoe and a half of story and had to rewrite later down the line plot because one scene that was in production was WAY too similar to a terror attack that happened while it was being made. They were always an entire episode and a half behind because of it which didnt help given the kind of work method they had with how anno had to finish things like story boards before the staff could actually do anything, THEY HAD TO REALLY CRUNCH TIME IT.

To be fair, though, Woolie, Evangelion's full title in Japan is Shin Seiki Evangelion. Evangelion is a real word referring to the Gospel, and Shin Seiki means "new century" essentially. Neon Genesis as the english title is kind of weird, though, and I don't know if the creators of the show picked that or that was picked when localizing the show

They even cut the rest of it, and just called it Evangelion, or Eva after EoE. (Neon Genesis is still rad when you translate it and or assign it meaning. It's close enough in name too.) Angels are also a lot cooler than Shito, and I'm surprised they didn't go with Tenshi, considering that they only picked the Christian themes and Hebrew terms and the like because they're foreign and they sound really cool and unique in Japan

I view it like this Gundam deconstructed the super robot genera and established so many troupes we take for granted in anime in general, then Macross came and turned those elements into what became generic mecha anime, then Evangelion showed that no these were the things that Gundam was going on about concerning the giant robot elements

Because that's not what Eva is fucking about. The "deconstruction" of the mecha genre is just a side dish, when the story itself is about the mental and emotional problems of all the characters to the point where most of them would rather become goo than continue living with themselves and others.

@@Gadlight Amuro was in a war with real people, not monsters. He was a skilled newtype, but he wasn't the only person in the entire world that could pilot a mobile suit. His superiors like Bright were much more understanding than Gendo. He *had* to pilot the Gundam or else someone would gun down the White Base and he would die, Shinji was forced to pilot the Eva for the sake of everyone else, he could've just fucking ran away. Amuro didn't have to deal with depression, possibly autism and a bunch of other insane individuals. Amuro's mom was alive, and he even met her. Most importantly, Shinji is a depressed kid that can't socialize with/relate to anyone (not even himself), while Amuro is just a spunky dude with a rad 'tude, to the point where he only got close to being depressed when he was unable to fight in the war in the beginning of Zeta. Amuro always loved mechanics and mobile suits to the point where HE himself jumped on the Gundam first without anyone ever asking him to do it, Shinji didn't want none of that terrifying shit. Oh, and Shinji felt fucking PHYSICAL PAIN when the Eva got hit by attacks. AND Gendo threatened to shove his crippled crush on the Eva instead if he denied piloting it. And Amuro has SUPERPOWERS. Amuro is extremely different from Shinji lmfao.

Regarding the amenities and commodities, they only got a paid-for basic apartment. Shinji, Asuka and Misato lived in one, and Rei lived alone in another smaller one. Not sure about the therapy, but I don't remember anything in-depth.

I’ve only read the manga so far and 6 episodes on kissanime. Lol funny thing is I’m the new print of the manga there’s in between that show the parallels the story as the Bible. Like each angel appear and each character. It’s too hilarious to me to hear so much about it only read the manga. I need to get on watching all there is too see!

Okay so if I wanted to watch EVA for the first time I should watch episodes 1-26 then the movie “End of Eva” then if I feel like it I should watch “Rebuild 1 and 2”?

Yes, but do note that you want directors cut episodes 20-24. Rebuilds are separate timeline, a remake.( there are some theories, some quite convincing that they are actually sequels tho) Oh and if you want to REALLY properly do it, i would recommend watching 1-24, then go straight in EoE until a live action scene starts(close to the end) at which point pause and go watch 25 and 26 and then finish EoE.

Fun Fact, Evengelion has like 2 examples of Unbuilt Tropes, Which is when the Trope Creator is also a Subversion of the trope. Rei is this Emotionless Girl Trope Right? She's also a deconstruction, but it the trope creator basically. Asuka a codifier, your not meant to find her likeable, yet somehow she's popular. It's kinda baffling how they became these huge popular characters. Gendo is basically X-Com in terms of organization, but he runs it like EXALT instead, with no X-Com to actually defend the world and prevent EXALT from doing horrible human experimentation. In fact I have a thought. What if..........What if in this setting we had X-Com, like actually X-Com, operating in competition with Gendo's organization. Same funding (Probably more.), same methods, same everything. What do you think would happen? I wish to hear everyone's thoughts.
