Or... seeing as he could not incinerate Jon, being hes a Targaryen, Drogon could have directed his fire to his left or to his right. He decided to blow it to his right which is where the iron throne happened to be, a thing made of swords as well, which is a weapon Drogon is probably not very fond of. What we get in return is contextually justifiable imagery and symbolism. Also I believe the Dragons have a partial understanding the power struggle at foot here. They also have a mental bond with the Targaryens and can intuit their wants and thoughts which I believe would alow Drogon to discern what exactly was going on between Danny and Jon in that scene.

Drogon is the smartest character on the show. He understood the real problem, as well as his limitations in tackling it as just one dragon, so he took the one step towards breaking the Wheel that he could. Then immediately after he left they all did their best to put the Wheel back together, going so far as to make their new king someone who is arguably the most responsible for everything that went wrong this season, has no empathy, possesses the greatest capacity for tyranny and power abuse of pretty much every living character via his magic bullshit, once mind-controlled a peasant into dying for him, and is literally, LITERALLY on wheels. Drogon tried to save them from themselves, but they didn't listen. Now Bran, true villain of Game of Thrones, reigns supreme.

Disclaimer: I have only read book 1 of the series, and watched none of the show. As soon as I heard about the dragon burning the throne, it only took me a second to come up with a way better way for that to happen, which only requires the dragon to be able to understand that Jon Snow killed her: just have him roast Jon so hard that the throne happens to get caught in it. If you need the fire to be directed towards the throne, just have the dragon coincidentally slap Jon over in that direction with its claws or tail first.

27:40 Coming in waaaaay too late to confirm that yes, by ASOIAF book rules, dragon fire in indeed much hotter than regular fire. It is also a very magical fire: each of daenerys' dragons has colour-coded flames (Drogon's fire is red and black, and so forth). And Pat is super right: in the books, Drogon is spearstabbed by some fools, and when Daenerys takes it off, the spearhead is glowing yellow from the heat. Also in the books, their skin/scales are so warm raindrops evaporate on touch. "Dragons are fire made flesh." So yeah, going by book rules, snow should immediately melt as soon as it touches a dragon.

As an (amateur) writer who's only sixteen and about 160 pages in. "Themes are for eighth-grade book reports." That statement form David Benioff makes me cringe beyond belief. It is worth noting my lack of experience here but I use themes while also using the gardener style as I feel it allows for better character-writing, which is similar to GRRM's style (I'm not saying I'm on his level, I am far, far, *FAR*, below his level). It makes me feel really frustrated when someone as inexperienced as me seems to understand a song of ice and fire better than D&D. Edit: I haven't even read the books so there's that...

I love that I am Pat in all of this. I never watched the series, or at least past the first season. I didnt like the characters, I cared nothing about the world or its politics. I recognize the talent of the actors/actresses, set design, CGI animators, etc. But I dont care one bit about the actual world or it's people enough to invest the apparent 60 some thing hours to watch a show that ends on a wet fart. But, man! Has the downfall been fun as hell to watch as someone not invested in the show. Like, once episode 3 came out...the internet got amazing with memes and pointing out coffee cups and Dany missing from the dragon animation on that city and some dude with one hand suddenly has the hand he was missing in a shot. Goddamn, I caught up and learned as much as I could from episode 3 this season to the end. Growing more twistedly excited for Game of Ramps to hindenburg, all as a friend of mine who had invested the entire run became more and more done with it all. Best bit was finding out about the leaks, and telling my friend I would end his suffering...if he bent the knee. In the end all this show meant to me was memes and shitposts. Best thing I can say about the finale was that it didn't make me mad. Last 4 episodes made me mad, but this one didn't. It ended about as well as it could have at this point. I saw the writing on the wall when Grey Worm got sent to camp Casterly Rock all season in 7 and realized "oh. not only have they run out of characters they're willing to kill, but paradoxically they've run out of shit for the characters they're stuck with to do." A part of me hates the internet and being able to see everyone's thoughts about things whenever they feel like dumping them out. I feel like a growing number of people bitching about the ads and the topic, of an hour long upload on KZbin, just listen to the podcast. There are even NOTES on the reddit, so you can choose when you want to tune in for which parts. People upset about them "complaining about things they want to talk about", but complaining about the platform they are watching it on, that they don't have to stay for smh.

Honestly I never figured that the finale was going to be satisfying because there were to many moving pieces. The series works based on the idea that whenever something is accomplished, it’s immediately followed by a tragedy, or the scene changes to something happening on another part of the world. The series worked on forward momentum that was never meant, or at least unintentionally designed, to stop. This might sound weird, but ending on a cliffhanger after a big battle would have been a bit better. Satisfying: No More satisfying than what we got: Probably

It started to snow only because the prophecy of snow falling on the Iron Throne needed to be fulfilled...nevermind that it: 1) Doesn't make any logical sense for it to be snowing in the same day as you just showed it to be clear skies 2) It's supposed to be symbolic of a plotline you forgot about

Honestly I think most of the character endings were satisfying, Hollywood contrivances aside. Good enough at least that I can imagine how the books will eventually arrive at some of them. The real problem is how the writers got them there. It's like a gymnast ended their routine with a gnarly, ugly backflip but still managed to land on their feet with a broken ankle.

The sad thing is they couldve made a dope ending. Lets say from episode 3 Night King survives but gets temporarily pushed back but he ends up killing Daenarys and Drogon. You have the next few episodes where Jon is trying to deal with all that by assassinating Cersei and using her forces to battle The Night King, Dany and her dragons. And then you have Euron Greyjoy being like naw fuck them all and start bombarding the city to kill everyone.

@@DJ_Khaalis like what? jon being useless and ammounting to nothing? dany going from 2 to 100 in crazyness when she already won and eveyone give up just for the sake of shock value? that 70% of the story was about dany and her dragons and nothing else matters? arya becoming a naruto character and ending the big problem of the story in the most flaccid way possible? the big evil of the story being reduce into a nerf of dany's army? which didn't even matter because they just respawn like videogame characters and didn't do shit becuase dany wins with one dragon? throwing away the brilliant dialogue of the early seasons in favor of MCU humor and dump expositions? throwing any good storytelling out of the window for scenes with shock value and special effects?
