Castlebrae in Hornstrandir - 1975 Silent 8mm film!

1975 Edinburgh School Expedition to the remote Horn of NW Iceland. A VHS copy of the original Super 8 video was found in May 2017. Although it is now 45 years old and very grainy, this provides a record for members of an adventurous and successful expedition in the remote and uninhabited Hornstrandir peninsular of NW Iceland in 1975.
In 1975 the only road route to Ísafjörður and Bolungavik was the tortuous unsurfaced route over several plateaux via Þingeyri (2.08-4.44). By the end of the expedition the new route south, along the south shore of Ísafjarðardjúp was being built, but the bridges were not finished (22.05-22.54).
There was no tunnel to Bolungavik, and the only road north went past the Hvalfjörður whaling station.

I went in Hornstrandir in 2018... watching this video was exciting!
