Castlelaw Fort

I managed to visit Castlelaw Fort. It's within the Pentland Hills Country Park. There is a car park across the road from the style that gives access to the fort. The site also contains the remains of an earth house, which are also called souterrains. The site is defined by its earthworks and ditches, and dates back to the Iron Age (2-3,000 years ago).

I coulld not hear a lot of the video due to the wind. I lived in Penicuik for 15 yrs in the 1980's and 90's, and I saw on your video that iit cleaned up! The boards around it looks a lot better than the mud too. Perhaps, if you added most of your historical input later, we'd hear your voice. \a lovely video showing Castlelaw Fort and the suterrainains within it. Thankyou. old Tich.

I do have a mic, but as I changed my phone, which now doesn’t have a headphone jack, I wasn’t able to use it. I will be looking into getting some sort of adapter. I’m glad that you enjoyed what you did make out of the video. I did also shoot a video at Penicuik House, which will be going up soon.

This was the 1st place I visited on my Scottish road trip and like you I found it by chance. Noticed a signpost for it and stopped the car...it was 10 at night though, kinda dark and the gate was locked...shone my phone light thru the gate and there were swifts or swallows nesting in the gaps in the stone, popping out and flying up and down the passage...nice to see inside it at last 😀
