I have had "Blooby Tears" as my ringtone for YEARS. Got the tune from VGMUSIC back in the day and had it on a specific usb stick that I still have. Even during the switch to Mp3 ringtones and everyone having their favorite song playing. My Sidekick was blasting chiptunes. I remember the day I got a "Smartphone" and it wouldn't play midi for a ringtone. I busted out the NES, connected it to my PC with an old af capture card and recorded an mp3 of the tune just to still run it on my phone. It is still my ringtone to this day. From my Sprint flip phone (My first color screen and ability to hook it up to my pc) to my current Galaxy S23. I don't know how long that is, but I remember taking a whole day to make that mp3. I still use the same usb stick. I have many OST's from many rereleases now days, but always use the ripped sound I made. Some of the releases are off, but my original rip from NES has a sound that still gives me goosebumps when I get a call. Sometimes I am too busy enjoying the tune to answer in time.

I love "Bloody Tears". It's a great song on one of the best video game soundtracks of all time, but...I actually prefer the daytime town theme, "The Silence of Daylight". My brain will always associate that music with my 1st experience with a Castlevania game. I remember watching my friend play it and the music really stood out. He had rented it and brought it over to my house...I had never played Castlevania 1, so I didn't know what the game was about. We both sat there playing, trying to figure out what to do and where to go. To this day Simon's Quest is my favorite game in the CV series, and I don't care what the AVGN or anyone else says, it's a goddamn good game! P.S. Every Friday this October I will be reviewing a different Castlevania game. The review for Simon's Quest will be this Friday, 10/9.
@sleepingwyvern3 жыл бұрын
Unlike u i did start off from the very 1st one, however till this day the track that always clings to me is this exact one u mention, so it truly shows how a catchy masterpiece it is esp back then at its time! I'll give ur review a shot if i get the time. ofc bloody tear is unquentionable and the wannabeish new bloodstained comes no where near it, makes it even sad to know all those backers exist now while none did back in the days.

@@DefinitelyReagan it's weird...I rarely pay attention to a video game's soundtrack while I play modern games, unless it's a Zelda or Mario game or something like that, but those old chip tunes were catchy and memorable. They had to do a whole lot more with a whole lot less, and the creativity really shines through.
@DefinitelyReagan2 жыл бұрын
@@Tom_Van_Zandt Nail on the head frankly - they had to do more with less. Tunes then had to carry an entire vibe with them, support the atmosphere in lieu of actual ambient sounds, and the experiences were better off for them frankly.

This game had quite a different atmosphere than the other two. It was darker, creepier, and depressing. You could tell the towns people lived in a very dangerous world. The areas were fun to explore. I think there's a few tricks (a secret jump in the cemetery that gets you to beat the game quicker), as well as a dead end called Denis Marsh, where the strongest enemies are. It served no purpose, had an invisible stairway to get you back to the other side.. interestingly, it's "behind" the first mansion you encounter according to the paper map. There's a few remakes of the game. If someone were to insert a secret passage that leads you back to the first mansion, it would be an epic troll move on the player, who would then have to travel all the way back to castlevania's bridge.
@Foxentails2 жыл бұрын
I don't think you can finish the game with just that cemetery jump. It's a glitch, you're not supposed to be able to make that jump. Pretty sure you would still have to do the tornado or lake kneel parts to finish it.
@peacefulbliss12 жыл бұрын
@@Foxentails I recall getting stuck at some point, and some expert gamer at school told me I had to go all the way to the left and kneel by some wall, I think with a specific item in hand. No internet to figure that stuff out back then!
@jaredt25906 күн бұрын
You can but you have to go all the way left and get the red crystal and the item in mansion 3 first. If you have those things you can just go straight to Castlevania and Dracula although you won’t have the flame whip for mansion five or the part to the right of it.

I don't think people fully grasp the impact this soundtrack had. Kenichi Matsubara only worked on 2 games for Castlevania in the late 80s, early 90s, and he is credited as the original author of "Bloody Tears", one of the series' most well known tracks to date. I was born in '87, so this was one of the first games I played as a toddler, as I had a brother 10 years older than me who had this in his arsenal. Happy to say I still have that same copy and play it from time to time. It's a great game, and many consider it to be the first open world RPG complete with NPC dialogue. It wouldn't be nearly as good without Kenichi Matsubara's contribution. Apparently he's still alive, but lives in a secluded village somewhere in Japan, far west of Kyoto, I can't find any info on it.
