How can such a good-hearted and handsome man like Leon have this happen to him. Lost his parents at an early age, had to go through a no-win situation with comes to killing his fiance in order to save her from becoming a vampire, had fought a giant pulsing demon with rotted bloody organs, and lost a best friend that gave up his Humanity to become Dracula. There ain't no other Belmont or Morris that will go through this much hell like Leon did and still make it back in one piece. Leon is more than just a knight, more than a Vampire killer, he is a soldier and a legend in his own right. If there was a Belmont reunion, the other descendants will surely give Leon a medal of honor.

I believe that when Julius finally struck down Dracula, It wasnt only him there. He had Leon, Trevor, Christopher, Soleiyu, Simon, Richter and all the others behind him aswell, in spirit. Its the same burden they all carry, symbolized as the everlasting Vampire Killer whip.

Actually, Leon did come armed with a weapon that wasn’t his sword. What was it? Just a silver knife. I checked his inventory at the beginning of the game and that was literally the only other thing he had with him.

He said that he has a weapon with him that wasn’t his sword because he left his sword behind and that knife is the only other thing on him which means he came already armed with it. It’s still a weapon. That’s what I’ve been getting at. I guess you also might not get the reference so I'll explain...it’s literally specifically described in-game as a SILVER KNIFE, not a regular knife or dagger like in other games, in Bram Stokers Dracula the Count is killed by a SILVER KNIFE.

The twists in Lament of Innocence are NUTS as well as learning the origins of the Belmonts' war against the night and the evils it brings forth... Mathias becoming Dracula is an interesting concept, and it fits to his words to Richter in Dracula X when he goes "Hmph! Mankind... a festering pit of hatred and lies.", showing he still hates humanity after all those centuries... a pretty epic final boss battle and a pretty epic series of cutscenes! :)

In the description, you forgot one key item that really sets make this "Crazy". All the attacks Guard Break(if they didn't already). The only way to guard without going into stagger is to Perfect Guard. Also certain attacks from enemies are different in "Crazy". Death's Soul Missle's is a two part attack, Death uses that Giant explosion attack way more often(i never even saw it until my "Crazy" runs). Walter will spam his Giant fireball indefinitely until you hit him(meaning you to be invulnerable or P. Guard it for the fight to progress) among other things. It is far and away a much more massive difficulty spike then Curse of Darkness(where essentially everything is just really high leveled). That combined with LoI's rather interesting item management system and it makes for very frantic combat.

I bought Elden Ring for the sole purpose of making Lament Of Innocence 2. Older, Battle hardened/scarred Leon with thorn whip in one hand (vampire killer) and hoslows in the other (morningstar). Throwing Knives, Holy water. If you want an absolutely EPIC Castlevania experience like Lament and Castlevania 64 type games were like, but x 1000, get elden ring.

Of the two Castlevanias that came out for the PS2 I like this more, I do not know, Curse of darknes has very repetitive levels, without almost any variety or obstacles, they are only runners and eventually fights, in LOI although it is almost the same scheme, at least It has more obstacles and things that have as one another puzzle platforms, etc. and walking the levels does not take so long, I think it's because the levels are smaller and that Leon moves faster, in curce of darknes the corridors were sooo long and Hector moves very slowly on the map, that and that I do not know about you but I feel more fluid control in LOI than in COD.

Death's dialogue doesn't make sense nor does Leon's. The whip can allow him to escape a premature death but cannot destroy the grim reaper. If that were the case everyone would live for 100 years then die when Dracula came back.

I don't know all of the lore either, but I believe Walter is currently the oldest known vampire in the series, so he's technically the "first" in that aspect. Whether or not he's truly *the* very first vampire is never really brought up as far as I'm aware. Personally, I have my doubts, I would expect more than just calling him "a powerful vampire". Also from a more meta point of view, it would create an unnecessary dead end for the writers. With the ambiguity, you could still reasonably create new vampiric threats and base a game or two in a time before Walter, Dracula, or the Belmonts, without the need for further retcons.
