This reminds me a lot of Warhammer lore, where the first vampires were heretics of Nehekhara (basically Ancient Egypt). They followed Queen Neferata of Lahmia to a path of immortality, though they ultimately became puppets of Nagash, the great Necromancer. After Nagash's death, the vampires denouced the Necromancer, and spread all over the world, building their own cursed kingdoms wherever they settled. The Von Carsteins of Sylvania are the most successful of these houses, as they almost brought the Empire to their knees.

I’m surprised no one is mentioning how Alucard is dressed in travelers garbs much like his mother at the start of season 1. What they wear is very identical as well as the dusty red lit environment. Nocturne started off the same as Castlevania season 1.

I Just noticed re-watching the fight on the video, the armors and weapons are rusted. Its such an small detail, but it shows that this vampires are there and probably don't have that much contact with the outside world since the body was stolen or the rituals to choose the messiah were concluded.

Unlike the Hashira in Japan. The weapons willed by Alucard and The Belmonts are Magick or Hextech based. Able to kill Vampires or Demons as if they were any other creature. Imagine if Alucard ever goes to Japan, and encounters Muzan and his Upper Moons. If Muzan suffer centuries of PTSD, from surviving his encounter with Yorrichi Tsugikuni, Alucard would make it relive it, but without him surviving this time. 😎

If Alucard is being more of a Belmont in Egypt it is because of the pyramids as he has certainly found out the Belmont diagnosis on why the Cross works on non-Christian vampires. All these years whenever I watch the fights from this show I always felt like something was missing. And today I finally figured out what it was - it’s too quiet! They don’t talk at all during fights, only grunts and shouts. And I don’t mean they need to have a conversation or anything, just shouting out the skills moves or just an inner monologue adds some spice to it that I can’t accurately explain. The animation is obviously incredible, the fights scenes are well choreographed but I can’t seem to enjoy it as much

Its not exactly a anime. Its more mature public oriented so going strait to the point without unneeded talks makes it more realistic in a way .Its just their style . For example look at Hellsing Ultimate . Kind of similar presentation(from memory as I havent seen it in a long time) but we have vampires vs nazis and such .

I think in one of the later episodes S2 E5 I believe, before he engages a group of vampires when they were about to attack the revolution soldiers mentions vermin like them knew who he was and remarks how Paris was much dirtier back then as well. I guess during this period of time word of Alucard to these Egyptian vampires was probably lost, forgotten or simply uninformed. But at least to the Belmont legacy he is a living legend!

Chances are, these vampires were just meant to guard the tomb for eternity. Unlike the vampires in France or those during Dracula’s time, these vampires just never traveled nor socialized. They probably just eternally stationed themselves at the tomb, waiting for Sehkmets eventual return.

This was the scene that I didn't know I wanted until I actually got it.................Nocturne has been this blend of different cultures and religions and I'm unsure whether I'm for it or against it. I definitely can say at sometimes I feel the show went too far with and you start to miss the gothic/Christian roots of the franchise. But this scene right here was great. I knew it was going to be great just from Alucard walking up to the temple under a blood darkened sky. This is one of the instances where the blending of cultures worked!

It's a really nice expansion of what we saw in the first series, with Dracula's war council, and the flashback we got for that Japanese vampire, Cho. Having all these different vampire cultures adds so much to the world, and helps them stand out from each other.

All a part of the (quite literal) world building! Feels like there's a lot being set up that can easily tie into an adaptation of the "Aria of Sorrow" storylines in the modern era involving Julius Belmont and Soma Cruz (like Alucard's multiple mentions of his trip through Japan). I feel like there may be a chance of the more gothic elements being revisited. At this point, as far as Alucard knows, he's killed his father and that's that, but we know better given the end of the 4th season of the first series that Dracula is resurrected but just hasn't reconnected with his son in over 300 years. Nocturne is adapting elements from Symphony of the Night, but if they really want to adapt more of the actual plot threads involving Dracula's resurrection, then that could be a setup for Dracula and Alucard to finally meet up again AND be back in Dracula's Castle or at least a more emphasized gothic setting. Maybe we'll even get some back story of some of the other Belmonts like Leon and Simon and those would definitely be in such a setting too!

@ I agree as well. I think where I started to feel it was out of place though was episode 6 in particular. I felt it especially during my rewatch of the 2nd season. Like in this scene, at least there are vampires involved to bridge the two cultures. It's the glue that keeps it all together. Watching episode 6 it really went heavy into the African culture, but it didn't really have anything to do with vampires at that point. And it went on for a long time. I was just sitting there scratching my head, as I started to feel very kind of confused. It didn't feel like I was in the Castlevania world anymore. Obviously good character development for Annette though, but I'm not sure it was best for the show.

@ If I were the Castlevania production team, I would actually base a show on Leon Belmont and Dracula. Flashbacks could work, but I think the material is a gold mine for an entire show to be based on it. Imagine an origin tale with the two of them in it!

It’s probably the same principle of how humans become paler as they age since their body struggles to make more melanin. It’s likely that Alucard’s vampire heritage took prominence over the years which is what made him look more ghostly. So he looks more human during hos human lifetime, but more vampiric during the years afterwards.
