If you're not going to use magical attacks, is there a reason to use Charlotte during the purple death phases? Does Johnathan take more damage during those phases?

I know this is old, but Death switches between a high defense phase and high magic defense. The tomb he uses with Charlotte during that fight does magic damage. So, it is smarter to use Charlotte's magic tomes/spells while he has high defense and Jonathan for his high magic defense phase.
