Seriously, I love the part at the end where the memory, that's right, the memory of richter says "I'm counting on you". Even if it's only the whip's memory of richter, damn. just damn. That's like the time Ra's Al Ghul was testing Tim Drake after bruce disappeared. Tim not only beat Ra's but exceeded his expectations. When Tim told Ra's how he had won, Ra's said to Tim "Well done . . . . detective". o_o that was my reaction for both of those times.

I remember worshipping Rondo of Blood/Dracula X as a game (as a kid I couldn't beat them no matter what) Now, as an adult, after beating way back those games... To see Richter telling me "I'm counting on you" is like my childhood nodding confidently in my powers to take this world on and do the right thing...

The fact that he ended it with a slide kick shows he already knew how much HP he had left because that definitely wouldn't have been safe if it weren't the finishing blow and he definitely wouldn't have done something so foolish after all that hard work if he wasn't keeping track of the HP. God-tier gameplay, is what it is.

64*78 = 4992. He strikes 78 times, then Richter has 8HP left so sliding does the trick. Honestly that's legendary. Even I have trouble keeping track when I needed to (Kill Gergoth quest)

Believe it or not, the Cream Pie is actually quite useful for this fight. Uses little mana and can pack a whallop of damage due to its dark element. It fires in an arc, so you can usually launch it far enough to keep out of harm's way. Unless you get yourself stuck in a corner. Then you'll need to stomp on the sod before giving him the slip.

When mastered, it's a nice option in against memory's whip. You can hit 2 times times in the air and 1 on the ground before jump again. Every hit got more the 50 points.

I like the little detail of the Whip already shining and having the ring when you use it in battle, as if the memory already knew you could do it, as if it believed in your victory the moment you entered it´s realm, this little details are the best.

It's because this whip isn't the Vampire Killer, but the Jet Black Whip, which is found on the Burt Paradise portrait. It has a Dark elemental attribute, which is strong against Richter, who has a Holy elemental attribute.

The whip was using Richters memory of being used. but the whip is the fastest weapon used here. when the memory tries to use subweapons, everyting slows down so the whip can try to remember how to switch between subweapons and firing the weapon.

I found that the best way to damage the boss and make the battle go by the quickest is to use "Dark powered" items eg. the cream pie, paper airplane, Jet black whip. The cream pies definitely take him down the fastest but they're risky to use, I use the paper airplanes so I have a little distance on him in case anything goes wrong.

that is not richter, that is the whip memory that alucard put as a curse to the vampire killer as a safety measure should any holder succumbs to mind control, i.e what happened to Richter in SotN. It is a test Jonathan needed to pass in order to use the whip's full power just at the final showdown with dracula, to avoid the whip to drain Jonathan's life as what happened to his father John morris in Bloodlines, where he ultimately died because of this curse.

i think he confonded with some elements from Lord of Shadow . i actually re play the game and he never say that the Vampire killer got cursed by Alucard . he just say that the Belmont can't use the vk UNTIL dracula come back , and so the Moris familly have to do , but as the wip tend to drain anyone's life if not hang by a Belmont , the Lecarde familly are here to keep the Vampire Killer in safety to prevent this . btw John had to use it more than he should , and it drained his life and killed him .

@jeghateralt666 What WorldWintide said; Richter was the last true Belmont to wield the whip at the time, the Morris family was just the carriers of the whip (and were distant blood relatives; they don't die if they try to use the whip!) while the Belmonts were away that were forced to use the whip due to the resurgance of Dracula. John might've been a Vampire Killer wielder, but he certainly wasn't a Belmont.

The first I didn't use subweapons and I was using Nebula whip. it really helps cause the whip is longer and is homing attack. But I had to use like 5 potions and it took 10+ minutes or so. The next time I came in with my Miser Ring with max gold and I used that jet black whip...

@MrLittleSlugger I got both so it depends. In DOS The unlockables include Julius mode which will let you change from Julius Belmont to Yoko and to Alucard the hero of Symphony of the Night. POR has Bonus Characters like Richter Belmont with Maria and that is always my favorite duo to use. or the Lecarde sisters but in either case it depends on you .

A non Belmont is using the whip, so of course it doesn't work as meant to because that whip is enchanted. So for the whip to work correctly this kid has to fight the memory of the Belmonts so that he becomes worthy.

Use the whip Nebula. You can strike him from afar and in the air so it's easy :)

Crash nebula does close to nothing as damage... Alucard's Spear is way better and has little less range than Crash nebula's whip

This is the very first time ever seeing Richter Belmont (Castlevania Portrait of ruin) and I thought he was Native American by his Standing pose, his deep voice, his headband, his skin tone (Compared to Johnathan's complexion) , axes (that I thought were tomahawks for some reason) and Bloodlines Bequeath helped promote that idea. He's still my favorite Belmont, knowing where he's actually from; he wears my favorite color too!

@sephiroh445 He does flinch if you hit him consecutively and stays like that for a while if you continue attacking. Anyway i beated him with the mastered shurikens and the cream pie (after the shurikens depleted my mp). Why shurikens? because you can hit him 3 to 5 times in a single throw.

Thankfully I leveled up to 40 with the Jet Black whip + Offensive Form, I was dishing out AT LEAST 104 DMG (112 with Offensive form). 3 Potions, 5 High potions and forever later, I finally managed to beat him.

@deadmadnessguy Trying the stomping technique, you are able to avoid his attacks easier while dealing out more damage, though on occasion he'll decide to be funny and throw an axe. Usually his whip won't hit you, although on some rare instances when he uses it at exactly the wrong instant it'll still hit you. Ultimately, while these occurrences are rare, it takes so long to kill him that you'll get hit enough times sooner or later anyway. Maybe it just takes more skill than what I've got.

This is just a so so emulation of the real ritcher. The real rither fights so good that the whip could barely handle trying to fully emulate him.

There's a very easy way to beat this boss without damage or subweapons, but since I can't vid, I can't show you. It just has to do with jumping over and getting behind Richter at the right time, attacking his back, then repeating the process. If he uses grand cross, you have about 2 seconds' warning to get out of the way. Very simple, but if you played the game like me then it's a pain in the ass to kill him because i did it before any of the late-game paintings.

@6sodom6boy6 The morris family have a little Belmont bloodline, that's why they weren't capable of using the Vampire Killer at it's maximum power and without purging the Morris' power, that's why John aged and died soon and that's why Jonathan had to defeat the memory of the whip

I have fought him again on a new game+ using the jet black whip and a miser ring(with max money to get an attack boost 99) I was at pretty low level because I rushed through the game and I beat him easily. you're reach is just as far as his and he doesn't duck to often so i could attack pretty quickly.

@ShadowsofYesterday I tried my technique again and it didn't go so well as i remembered but I still did it. however I did this fight when I was using action replay I only took 2 hits, one was when he suddenly used the axe and the other was the first time he used grand cruz and couldn't get out of the way in time. the strategy does take a while though.

John had to pretty much go through the same thing but not being a Belmont destroyed his own life essence as i'm sure Jonathon Morris did as well. Still showing that really only a Belmont can bring out the whip's true power and here we see Richter the last Belmont before Julius returned the Whip to the Belmont's during the battle in 1999.

@deadmadnessguy A few hits? He kills you in three hits! However, he on the other hand has 5000 HP, and takes anywhere from around 40 to hundreds of hits to beat (103 hits in my case). Oh, and to hit him, you have to be within his attack range. And you can't move directly before, during, or after your attack animation. Which is very slow. What about this fight is fair enough to justify not Action Replaying? Granted, I'm determined that someday I'll beat this legitimately, but it's all luck.

Don't stop dodging, keep using the cream pie and if you get a chance attack using your equipped weapon. It took me 2 tries but I did it the level 20 - 30 range

@komakoma876 try this challenge: Hard mode Lvl 1 only. no weapons no sub weapons either. just punches. THat's tough and fun. I finished this challenge without a single hit. Cause one hit will take you out quick.
