For me, that moment @2:32 where Alucard pulls off the night creature’s head has echos of Belmont dealing with a night creature on 3x01 @6:15. :) Ellis once wrote a brief article on story writing in which he said: “Identify a character in your idea. 1) What does that character WANT? 2) What does that character need to do to GET what they want? 3) What are they prepared to DO to get what they want?” Here is we start seeing that really play out for Saint Germain.
@jontaehall27408 ай бұрын
It's actually really good writing, because it doesn't feel contrived for the sake of getting the desired outcome. We already know that Saint Germain is willing to put on any hat he needs to get what he wants. For example: how he takes on whatever role a king or nobleman wants simply for food and a place to sleep, or how he lied his way into the priory to look for the infinite corridor. It is interesting to see it show how someone's morals can be pushed, and cause them to do things they wouldn't do if placed in a situation where they have no other options.
@noahrobin19418 ай бұрын
Since you mention it, St Germaine’s shift does bug me a little…but the portrayals of characters moving from seemingly normal behavior to….well, “not” almost always does, because it almost always seems too sudden to me. I would have preferred a slower burn for his character; something which showed (or at least explained) how he got to where he was. I agree that it’s interesting to see how far someone’s morals can be pushed, I just think that to make the pushing of morals believable, it should be done slowly, over time. And if “slowly over time” isn’t necessary because the person’s morals are already highly questionable, then I think you need to show the character in somewhat close to the next step. As you say, we’d seen his morals were a little questionable, but nothing close to /this/ questionable IMO. It’s a heckuva shift in hat-wearing to go from conning people a little to trepanning them with a wrong end of a hammer. Not that there’s a /right/ end of a hammer with which to get trepanned. :)

BTW there is a conspiracy theory about the historical figure known as Count de Saint-Germain, and its kinda neat IMO. The Count de Saint-Germain, a name which simply translates to the "Count of St. Germaine," he's said to be an Immortal rumored to be even older then Jesus; The Count de Saint-Germain, according to witness accounts, is a Caucasian man of handsome appearance who appears to be around 45 years of age regardless of the date of his sighting. Being Caucasian, he has normal beige skin, green eyes, and brown salt-and-pepper hair. He stands at around 5 foot 7 inches tall. His current age is believed to sit at 2,154 years old, having supposedly been born around 130 BC. The Count is one of history's greatest and most skilled Alchemists with an intensive understanding of Alchemy, language, history, and culture. He was known by many of the most famous figures of European history, including Casanova, Madame de Pompadour, Voltaire, King Louis XV, Catherine the Great, Anton Mesmer and others. The Count de Saint-Germain has been involved in almost all major Magical organizations since his birth and is still alive as of the modern day so they say. Its a super neat conspiracy theory IMO.

A conspiracy theory is a theory that there is some kind of conspiracy going on, that powerful people are trying to achieve some kind of agenda. A theory having reasonable evidence to back it up. There is a lot of historical evidence of st germaines existence, and no one is really pushing it or not pushing it, so it's not really a conspiracy theory. Just a strange quirk of history.

Wasn't he supposedly cursed at the crucifixion according to legend? The exact wording being something like he would be the last to enter Heaven/Hell during the Apocalypse.

@@darknessunknown4384 No, I know that at least some sources think St Germain is the Wandering Jew. I'm not read up on all the various legends, so maybe some claim they are different people. The Why Files did a video on St Germain and they specifically claim he is the Wandering Jew in the video.

In yet another ironic role reversal, Saint Germain has now taken on Isaac's role from Curse of Darkness. And...(spoiler) His conversation with Varney is especially ironic, if you've played the game.

2:03 -2:07 While these night creatures are original, they look very similar to the space pirates, from the Metroid games (especially the Metroid Prime games); I wonder if that was intentional? 2:53-2:57 And we see Alucard using his shield, for the first time. In Symphony of the NIght, Alucard was able to equip various shields to block attacks, and this particular shield is the Alucard Shield; the best one in the game. What Hector found at the end of the Infinite Corridor, in Curse of Darkness, was a room with heads displayed on shelves, and a large Dullahan (a headless swordsmen, with the souls of its victims embedded on its sword and shield). It sounds off topic but, trust me, it's more relevant than you think. When I first saw the alchemist, I had an immediate suspicion about her. Obviously, I won't say what that suspicion was, or whether or not I was right, just yet.
@danielramsey61418 ай бұрын
It would be intentional since Metroid was the First Game to Create “The Metroid”-Style Map and how you had to Navigate it from One Location to a Another through Study, Upgrades, and marking down what you could and Can’t do in a given Area. That and the fact that Castlevania was really inspired by this Gameplay in order to EVolve from its Linear Gameplay structure so it could focus on more Narrative gameplay without losing its Horror Roots.

Greta is what we could've gotten, if Grant had been included in the show. The name of her village, Danesti, even sounds similar to Grant's last name, Danasty. If the show's creators had said that this was their interpretation of Grant, I would've been fine with it. But, on the other hand, given how poorly a lot of the character changes in Nocturne were handled, perhaps it's for the best that this wasn't Grant...
