Been using one for decades in NZ. I wouldn't even bother throwing it into that dirty water. Firstly you're not targeting anything, throwing blind, and secondly fish avoid that sort of water because it causes them gill damage. Biggest fish caught was a 750mm ( ish) Kingfish that simply smashed a hole in the net and was gone. I use it mainly to catch bait. Once on the West coast,Kawhia, saw nothing but threw it anyway. Had around 250 mullet in the net. Hard work lifting the net out of the water. Gave lots of bait away that day. Spot a John Dory and net it every time. You have another video in Scarborough. Get a small sack, scrounge some old fish frames, and put them in the sack with a rock to anchor it, then let it sit for 10 minutes. Let the fish come to you. Then throw next to the sack. On a high jetty just tie another rope on the end to extend it, and tie the far end to something solid. I catch eels with a cast net in rivers. Get the old Sheila to shine a torch to locate one, then switch off the beam and throw. They just sit still in the net. I spent a couple of weeks going around the coast of Devon and Cornwall a couple of years back. I'd give fishing away if I lived there. Dead compared to NZ. We have a 4x4 camper van, and never go hungry when carrying a cast net.

@@peterrhodes5663 I've mainly just been doing it for fun recently but definitely going to take your advice and put more effort to catch something in the future

Hi from memory when i used to fish at bridlington 40 years ago ime sure that your stood on the end of the sewer pipe, that’s where the water authority used to release the sewage at high tide, i dont know if they do that any more .

@codmaster622 I can't imagine they still do things like that but you never know ha, if they do it's a good job I never caught out isn't it😂

@@Ukvanaddict2023 We used to stand on the pier fishing looking at the clear water and you could see the water /sewage bubbling out of that tube and it used to turn all the sea right up to the pier brown and you could also see the toilet paper floating around the harbour ( sorry for being so explicit but thats how it was back then ) if I caught a flat fish off the pier i was exstatic but the locals would say dont eat that its a shitbutt short for halibut that eats SxxT
