imo casual is fine. it only looks bad compared to the speedrun (i'm commenting before finishing this ep though), but it looks better than what most people would probably cobble together even after multiple runs. addition: I only disagree on Baron dying/failing 'on purpose' sometimes because I think a seasoned player playing casually would be able to avoid those.

This series really is improving per episode. I wish there was a way to do side by side without limiting the video so much with the huge black bars. Maybe instead do it like old Halo splitscreen (across the middle) and have the information (time, person playing, etc) with a transparent background in a smaller font at the top of each? I mention this again because I think this is hard to see on a 27 inch monitor I'm 5 feet away from, nevermind a 10 inch phone screen.

There's an editing error at 11:42 where you can see the timer appear for a split second in the middle of the screen. The word Casual also changes to something else when that happens. 19:24 That's funny because what the speedrunner did there is exactly what I did in my casual playthrough. In fact, I like cutting corners by going over mountains and stuff like 18:24 and 18:40. I do however hate missing dialogue, so I'd purposely slow down and take a more leisurely approach to make sure I don't skip them when they're present.

If I remember correctly, there's even a small chance of being launched into the checkpoint at the top of the tower during the collision. It's incredibly unlikely to happen at this point in time, what with all the inconsistencies involved in just landing on the upper level. Perhaps later on, if and when the details have been ironed out completely, this could be a viable strat to save a few seconds.

For an "open world" game, Rockstar really restricts your options in missions. You are right about RDR2. I wish in future games, R* lets you devise your own strategies and do missions whatever way you want. May be you can get different stats for different playing styles - like the honour system in RDR2. For example, if I choose to do my missions with stealthy style, it can reward me with stealth weapons or items etc. vs. if my playing style is more aggressive. May be it can alter what random events or side missions you trigger if you max your stealth or max out aggressiveness etc. May be it can reward you with a different special ability if you max out a particular play style. Then I can adopt different styles for different playthroughs and get a totally different experience.

I wonder how much faster the speedrun would be if a player like Merphos was the driver. That guy is insane at racing.

im about as fast as merphos on a racetrack when he plays with us on PC races. he is better in some places of course but i have been in the racing community for 3 years and am just barely outside the top few guys in terms of speed.
