These "pointless" facts are extra interesting now that Sakurai revealed in a video that he doesn't really encourage his employees to add minor details, but they just do it anyway. Some texture artist probably spent their afternoon looking up Anglo-Saxon runes just to put an easter egg on Hero's sword.

Those details might be more about stages, especially Nintendo first parties. I would bet Hero's character design was seen by a thousand eyes, so not really something you can add to spontaneously.

I think for some reason, Nintendo took advantage of Plant being first party, and didn't tell a single soul about it, including whatever company makes the CG trailers. I'd say they made it in-house which is why it looks bootleg, but they tried their best to replicate the splash-screen, but maybe didn't know the exact font.

piranha plant main here; having a triple jump would allow for so much more pressure potential I think. up air is a good juggle tool as it is, especially with the danger of ptooie as a follow up not to mention how much better f-air would become due to how you could catch someone from practically anywhere I think it'd make plant a good deal better, all in all, a big shame it got removed last minute

I kinda wonder why Piranha Plant was planned to get a third jump, maybe the animation for the third jump in the files is a placeholder that they just never bothered with Since it wouldn't make much sense for Plant to have 3 jumps as is, even if they are pretty wacky, maybe that animation placeholder was meant to be a stand in for referencing another Piranha Plant species

Back air especially would be more viable for things like frame traps, or even just general use Down b would be amazing at covering several angles. You can just use it again if it misses A lot of small things that would bump this character up a few pegs

Fun fact: if Byleth is holding an item and then turns around while charging his bow, the item will appear at the arrow tip. It’s purely visual and has no effect, but I’ve never seen anyone mention it before.

I know a bit about 3D modelling - Characters usually have an A pose if the modeler decides that their shoulders need more detail than their underarms. Obviously, whichever you choose is going to result in more detail in one and more of a low-poly, stretchy effect on the other. Terry has huge muscle-y shoulders Byleth has a coat with big shoulderpads. Mythra is a special case, it looks like if she were t-posing, her shoulder spikes would clip into her long hair. Pyra has shorter hair and shorter shoulder spikes that just barely don't clip when she's t-posing. That's my best guess.

Piranha plant having an extra jump in my opinion would legitimately bump him up a tier or two. It would make his edge guarding even better than it is and allow him to get better low or mid damage combos. I’m a piranha plant main and I’m mad they changed that.

A note on the Hero (and other) taunt timing differences - if you look at when the Slime spawns, it seems like the Taunt animations are perfectly synched regardless of turnaround, and it's the blend back to idle that takes up the extra time. So it's not turning to face the camera that's adding extra frames - they account for that /w blend times - it's the turning back away from it.

Although I knew about the piranha plant footstool attack, it would be interesting to do a series with somewhat uncommon facts such as how snake's upsmash doesn't increase damage with charge. Something that is known but not reviewed often.

Funny thing for the Banjo fact with superpspicy curry is that this also happens with Piranha Plant... technically. Since it's head has to expel the flames, if you use down special, the flames will actually follow it's mouth.

About the taunt facing things, I’ve always noticed that Captain Falcon’s down taunt is almost completely different depending on where he is facing, with him looking left being much faster and a bit more stylish in my opinion than when he is facing right.

i don't remember if it's been brought up on the channel before (game's been out for 4 years, god help us) but captain falcon's "show me your moves" taunt is not only shorter when facing left, but it's also slightly different in that he doesn't turn to face the camera, instead simply turning his head and giving a sort of smaller, less "animated" salute i noticed this in smash 4 and the information has remained in my brain since.

Okay, it may just be me, but when I look at the runes on Erdrick's sword at 10:39, I *swear* the runes spell "Gragon Kuest", instead of "Dragon Kuest" - like, they wanted to use the Dæg rune (ᛞ, which stands for the letter D), but instead used the Geofu rune (ᚷ, standing for the letter H). From the timestamped depiction, the first rune is identical to the fourth one, and is missing the vertical lines Dæg has. And as for the spelling of "Kuest" instead of "Quest" - it's a matter of Anglo-Saxon runes not having a glyph for "Q", so "Ku" is substituted. So like, yeah, seems like it's actually the Gragon Quest sword.

Edit: I am a Piranha Plant main, and having a 3rd jump would be a massive buff since we could do up air strings to get more damage in combos into the spike ball, and it'd help mix up falling onto stage because we tend to struggle with that since we have few options, and it'd buff our recovery which is already great, but it doesn't mean if our opponent has a counter we're just dead, so it'd get him out of the E Tier spot very easily and maybe place him in low C

never heard of the piranha plant fact about footstooling him, i think it can be useful if you somehow manage to read that your opponent will fakeout a landing so you crouch to get a faster up smash. or maybe it has some super niche uses in doubles to send your teammate flying for whatever reason, and you want the particular knockback given by the move or whatnot.

For the longest time, I’ve heard about Piranha Plant being able to counterattack footstools from its opponents, but I never get to trigger it, or know how to do it. It was until now that I realized that this only triggers when crouching. It would be useful if it wasn’t a mechanic only for crouching, but as a quick “get off me” attack any time Plant gets footstooled, especially in the air.

Isnt another way to check somethings element is to see if it can kill an specific Pikmin, for example red pikmins are immune to fire so if a move can kill it, it wount be a fire attack

Hello, one of the 4 plant mains here. An extra jump would be incredible for juggling and mix up for disadvantage (being juggled and recovery) I don’t know why from a design perspective they considered this though. But since characters can just go high enough to avoid certain moves, this would be great against characters who can just simply go high.

Captain Falcon also has a faster left facing taunt than right facing. When he does his iconic salute, if he's facing right he faces the camera before saluting. When facing left he immediately salutes facing the opposite direction. It's not a small difference either, the left facing taunt is significantly faster.

Extra jump with the plant has a number of possibilities bruh... The edge guardging, on top of her insane recovery and its something i totally would fish for, for fun, is knockback high up, triple jump and neutral b. That extra boost upwards in the distance, would make neutral b deadly lol.

An extra jump would make up air combos a lot better for Plant, probably enabling it to take stocks pretty quick and giving it a better combo game. It would also make disadvantage way better, an extra jump would be super good as a mixup tool along with b reverse side b and various stalling moves

Fun fact, one of Byleth's victory screen animations might a reference to the game over screen of Three Houses. The game over screen has all of the weapons he uses in Smash stuck haphazardly into the ground, and his victory animation in Smash has him sticking them in the ground in front of you. Could just be a coincidence, but it's not like you ever see his bow stuck in the ground any other time in Three Houses or in Smash Bros, so I think it's fair to say this is an intentional nod. Which is cool, it's like Byleth is demonstrating to his opponents "You lost."
