Good idea, however I'd use dowels to pin the handles (prior to gluing the rubber on). You can get self-adhesive rubber grip sheets that would be much better for this application. This stuff is really cheap and sold in rolls for use as lining for the bottom of tool drawers.

Yes I was thinking of using dowels but you know what they say, glue is stronger than the wood.... I do have some of the lining material, I'm using it when sanding. And yes that would work great as well.

You could also dowel the handle to the base.

You don't need to put the rubbish ones in the bin. I screwed mine to a piece of plywood, which saves the work of making new handles. The screws are put in from the top so don't risk coming into contact with the machine.

Hmm that's actually an interesting idea to use them as handles for something 🤔 ideas running through my mind now 🤣👍 Thanks

Great idea! For a version 2 I would use a wide rubber band to hold the dowels down, that way you can also replace them once they get damaged simply by pulling the band to the side.

Excellent project, Tomasz! Fantastic work! 😃 Another option is to use an adhesive silicone mat in the bottom. They're pretty cheap from China! (I just searched about it yesterday, because I'm going to make a small vise to hold boards for soldering... You know? And I'm going to use it in the jaws because it's really grippy and heat resistant!) Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

It's a nice design but I'd be irrationally worried that the stop block would go back up while I'm using it--but it would probably be easy to modify the block to have some sort of locking mechanism.

Not sure if I understand what you mean. You are holding the stop block so it will go where your hands will go.

Hi Tomas, I like your stuff/what you do but can I ask a daft question……,why do you need the stops to be retractable? It makes sense if you, perhaps, only make one but I would assume anyone would make a pair (I will) and so keep one with and one without.
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the boards will be too long so you will use them flat and they do a great job being flat. The rubber has got a very good grip.

Wrong video but… Can you add transparent coloring to just the resin Before you add the hardener?? Because I’m encasing a clover so I have to work with adding two layers. First layer let set for an hour or so, add the clover, then pour the second layer. I just want the color to be consistently the same between the two layers.
@johncoops6897
@johncoops6897 2 жыл бұрын
Of course you can. Or you can colour the hardener instead.

@@CasualDIY Yes. Thanks. Doing test runs is what I’ve been doing. With a cheap resin I bought from Walmart. Trying out my first colors and my new coin molds. I’m currently waiting on Liquid Diamonds to finally get here. Then more test runs. Thank you. Very appreciated. Love your channel.

@@CasualDIY Thanks. I’m finding out by talking to people, what I’m attempting to do isn’t a common practice when it comes to working with resins and I’m a rookie at this. Trial and error I know. It seems so simple yet I can’t find any info on this. Even from people who’ve worked with resin for decades. Huh. Someone out there has to had done this at some point.
