I remember seeing the episode where Perry White was haunted by "Great Caesar's Ghost", everytime he said his catchphrase...Original Alfred was more of comic relief with a Cockney accent, wasn't he? So, Dick leaves the police station, immediately comes back as Robin, and none of the cops suspect anything?? Well, it's cool to see Robin using fear tactics to take down a gang, he's learned well from the Dark Knight!
@ViccVegaa023
@ViccVegaa023 3 жыл бұрын
Original Alfred is fat, has a posh accent "Of course, Maw-ster ( Master)" and aspires to be a Detective but is comically inept at Detective work. He'd have solo gag stories where he'd try to solve a case, be completely off track and would end up capturing the bad guys anyway either by sheer luck or because Batman and Robin are secretly helping him.
@davidmcmahon4633
@davidmcmahon4633 3 жыл бұрын
The original Alfred was an actor. After his father died, who was the Wayne Butler until shortly after Bruce became Batman and Dick had become Robin, he got the letter from his now dead father asking Alfred to give up his vagabond ways of a stage actor and follow the family occupation of being a butler and come take care of Bruce and his young ward, Dick. And he bumbles into the fact that Bruce and Dick were Batman and Robin. All in all, it is a very good origin story that should be reviewed here, *Hint* "*Hint*

Those interested in the George Reeves Superman series might also like to see the 2006 film Hollywoodland, starring Ben Affleck as Reeves. It explores his life as the TV Superman, the effect it had on his acting career - his scenes in From Here to Eternity were said to have been cut because audiences at test screenings jeered and made jokes when he appeared - and his mysterious death by gunshot. This has been ascribed to either suicide because of career issues or murder, perhaps related to an affair with the wife of a mob-connected film executive. The film is framed by an unnecessary (in my view) story of a fictional private detective, played by Adrien Brody, investigating Reeves' death but does cover some of the facts. Affleck is good as Reeves and you could make an argument that this makes him the only actor to play both Batman and Superman on film.

Been awhile since I last saw the TV show. I remember it in re-runs as a kid in the 70s. What surprised me, the last time I saw the black and white early episodes, was how callous Superman was in the first two years of the show. A carryover from the two movie serials I guess. Another good example, besides the one you showed, was when a trio of crooks discover Clark Kent is Superman. He captures them and flies them to a ledge on a mountainside and flies away. They eventually fall to their deaths. I wonder how many other callous acts by Superman you can find in those early episodes?

The thing you have in common with my other favourite (Agadmator's Chess Channel) is the obvious love for the subject matter combined with a strong and acerbically dry at times wit. You do better character voices and sound effects than he does (those wouldn't be suitable for a chess channel anyway) but conversely you haven't displayed much of a grasp on endgame theory... I hope this doesn't come across as too sycophantic as I find that sort of thing pretty distasteful, but please do keep up the good work.

Something to be careful of is the fact that many Adventures of Superman episodes are presented in a form that was edited-down for commercials as the amount of time commercials took up in a TV show expanded. This results in strange scenes that don't quite fit together. In the case of the British episode, the mysterious phone call you refer to could have been paid off in another scene that got cut. I don't know what your source is for viewing these episodes, but you might check to see if they're the complete originals or if they've been edited down. If it's the latter, there may be loose ends caused by the editing process.

Hi Sasha, what I learned from rewatching Adventures of Superman is that Clark’s adoptive parents where initially named Eben & Sarah Kent , not Johnathan & Martha. I read where that was true in their initial appearance in comics as well. Might be worth a vid to see why & when it changed. I can see changing Eben to Johnathan because maybe Eben was a common name in it’s time but no so much now, but Sarah is a kind of eternal name ( IMO). Anyway Keep up the Great Work

FYI on the English episode: Macready is the surname of at least two famous actors: William Macready, a stage actor in England from the 19th century, renowned for his talent in Shakespeare roles; and George Macready, an American actor, who claimed descent from William. He made several movies, probably the most famous of which is the villain (he often played villains) in "Gilda". So the use of Macready here was definitely deliberate.

Not Jimmy or ghosts related, but seeing the smuggler go off the cliff made me wonder if you have seen the episode where a couple discover he is Clark so he leaves them on an icy cliff where they fall to their doom shortly after he leaves? 😳 TV Supes is some sort of passive serial killer!!

Reeves was a good actor but his Superman was so popular execs no longer believed he'd be accepted in other roles

Maybe Superman should have Jimmy hang out with Robin or Batman for awhile. Teach him some self-defense tactics. Might be a good idea to have Lois hang out with Batgirl.

Unlike many pets, parrots can live a very long time. Just because the parrot didn't hear anyone drown in the recent past (aka this episode) doesn't mean it NEVER heard it...

As ordered I will spring no Sprang jokes. The lady in black is may fav of the episodes listed, with Ghost for Scotland Yard being second.

Tbh I massively prefer the Robin version. I really like the aspect of Robin having to put into practice the Bat-training and use fear like Bruce does. It's just a really cool "oh damn, he really is becoming an equal to Batman" story.

THE FIRST JIMMY OLSEN EPISODE WAS WAS HOKEY BUT FUN. DIDN'T HAVE MUCH OF A PLOT, AND YOU COULD SEE THROUGH THE PLOT HOLES, BUT IT WAS FUN.

Nice comment, but all-caps? Are you screaming at us? Is everything alright? Are you in a spooky house/apartment alone at night? Do you need some warm cocoa? ☕🙏

I find it hilarious how everyone complains about Clark killing Zod in Man of Steel and feeling pain and remorse right after he does it, but NO ONE complains about every other time Superman has killed someone and NOT GIVE A F*CK!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
