What I get from this is that the absolute universe is sort of a dc version of the rebooted Ultimate universe: alternate continuities created by a major villain to fulfill their own goals but ultimately the heroes they so often faced off against still manage to return. I like it.

Something I liked was how it felt like the writers were familiar with most of the characters. It's in small moments, like Jaime talking to his parents (and his conflict is similar to conflicts in his recent solo book), remembering which characters have been on the JL and having them mention it, or Diana being with the magic users or calling Zatanna sister, which is a great reference to JLD Another thing I liked was how prominent Yara is on every other page. The artist clearly loves her

I loved this conversation. One thing (two?) that struck me hard is that each side of the issue starts with "52 Days Before" along with "52 Days After". Felt like a real call to action for the readers to recognize all the different retcons DC has tried while still giving them validity for these All IN stories going forward. And some serious Darkseid character development that I don't think long time readers ever saw coming. Or ever expected.

I'm an absolutely new reader, the justice league story was a bit much because I had surface level understanding of characters like Booster Gold. Darkseid's story made a bit more sense as him just on this conquest to start his own ruthless DC Universe. Overall i enjoyed this special and it got me hyped for the Absolute titles.

It was so much more fun than it would've been without the knowledge you've imparted and the interest that you've sparked. The power swaps/ disappearances will most likely be dealt with in the various ongoing monthlies set in the main universe. For example, we already know that the Superman books will feature a new Superwoman & Batman is set to clash with someone named Commander Star.

For the Alpha part, I like that all of the heroes were invited into the new Watchtower so that they can be part of the Justice League Unlimited. It’s nice that Clark invited Booster Gold to join the JLU because he knows that he sees the potential in him and that he did his best at becoming a hero for the past 39 years. I also like that all of the heroes all worked together to defeat Darkseid before they learned that the Elseworld (which hasn’t been used since the end of Death Metal) became the Absolute Universe and that Booster Gold learned what’s happened in that universe. Overall, this is a great backup and a great start to the DC All In initiative. For the Omega part, I like that we get to see what happened to Darkseid since Dark Crisis. This includes him obtaining power by traveling through realms to get it (including dealing with Zaurel, Blaze, Eclipso, the Spectre, and the Quintessence), fighting the heroes at the new Watchtower, and using the Elseworld to create an Absolute Universe. Also, referencing Darkseid’s entire history, including stuff from Final Crisis and the Great Darkness Saga. Overall, this is a great backup and a great start to DC’s Absolute Universe.

Sasha you're one of the best at what you do and THIS video definitely helped me understand more of what DC is trying to do. They're maintaining the main earth/universe prime while essentially acknowledging a reset of a new Darkseid continuity adjacent to the prime universe especially with seeing Superman saying ELSE WORLD 👀👀👀😂😂💪🏾💪🏾.... which I will say definitely intrigues me especially because of those awesome designs...but again are these two universes going to collide and is this leading to another potential crisis 🤔🤔🤔. Either way i hope it does well.

I'm tentatively excited about the Absolute stuff. I'm going to try all of them and give them a fair shot; with them basically spinning out of an event, sorta, it may take a few issues for them to reach their stride. Never been into Wonder Woman (never found a good entry point and her lore feels very disjointed to me, even for a comic character), but I am legit interested in the Absolute variant. Very excited at the idea of my man Booster Gold finally getting to be important again, like, for real.

So let me get this straight. There is the DC universe which is either infinite or has 52 alternates. Then there is the multi multiverse which allows for marvel and dark horse and image comics. Then there is the dark multiverse, which has a sort of evil feel to it but is based on all Batman things going wrong. Then there's the negative universe where all the quad things come from. And now there is the dark side universe which we're calling the absolute universe.

Both the Legion of Superheroes and the Legion of Substitute Heroes have been in the recent Justice Society series by Geoff Johns and Mikel Janin. To keep it vague, they’re trying to prevent a calamity that the JSA will unknowingly cause in the future.

I am super excited for Absolute with the harsher tones and redesigns that are familiar but not too outlandish. And the writing teams behind them while seeing how the DC universe was evolving and actually keeping story lines/arcs together and linked. Something I think Marvel is severally lacking where events don't really matter or carry over until some random point when it's like 'hey remember this'. I can't wait to read this line and see how it all comes together in the individual books.

I read this today, and as a person who likes continuity, I do apreciate that they to refer to big events in the past and not just throw it away because the writer or who ever could not or didn't want to figure out how to go from the ending of the previous writer's arc to his/hers. Its like they took all that stuff threw it in a pot, mixed it around and came out as some stew that is the thing we are now.

I liked Darkseid's journey as a story, but i'm not sure I'm Absolute-ly interested in the new line. I do like that DC seems to have learned a lesson from the New 52 and isn't trying to make people embrace the Absolute line at the cost of the classic.

I think with Darkside leaving main DC to go to elaseworlds That should make it more bright and happy, Like Darkside is the God of Evil and order. So with him gone everything is happy and makes no sense a more sliver age feel. Vilians don't kill they just rob banks People might hate it but it would with the thread of make everything dark it would be fun to try and do the opposite for a bit

@@daraghokane4236 the silver age wasn't all happy. Marvel especially showed this, but DC too, just because things seemed ridiculous didn't mean they weren't taken at least a bit seriously. Yes, the vulture was a bald old man who was dressed in a green gliding suit, but he's still a legitimate threat and wants to kill people. Hell, Shazam, the kid superhero, dealt with some really dark topics and would kill his villains on occasion, and to make him pure "happiness" would miss the point.

Sounds needlessly complicated and repetitive. I say that as someone who loved Multiversity from Grant Morrison. A good thing that series did was show how many different ways the DC characters can be interpreted. And the Absolute Universe seems oddly too similar to the norm of how the characters are portrayed by DC. A Batman who isn't as rich, Edgy Superman, Wonder Woman with a sword is all pretty standard now.
