People only say he was carried by shaq in a stupid attempt to diminish Kobe’s legacy or if he’s rated to highly for someone. Kevin Durant in the 2017 finals nearly averaged the first ever 35 point, 55/50/90 double double. He was 2 rebounds shy averaging 8 boards a game. On top of that he was the better defender, and rebounder then Steph. While averaging similar assists. But NOBODY says Durant carried curry. Though kobe somehow was?😂

There was no "carrying" here it's only ever used as an argument to diminish Kobe in this case as a player. In 2000 he was the 2nd option and 2001 onward it was a 1A/1B partnership with Shaq. Simple as.

I agree with that. Both of them were great in addition to the fact they had a great group of teammates that made those teams special. That era of the Lakers was one of the greatest of all-time. Now at the same time the Kobe worshippers rewrite history like Kobe won in spite of Shaq and he would have been better without him which is false. Also they discount Shaq's stats when it doesn't help Kobe's case but glorify Kobe's stats when it makes Kobe look great. They both needed each other and their great teammates to win those championships in that difficult conference of teams. What the Kobe and Shaq supporters seem to forget is that Shaq and Kobe were both at their best in 2003 and 2004 and lost to the Spurs and Pistons in back to back years after the 3Peat, so why neither one of them could carry nothin to championships in those years.

it's a 1A Shaq 1B Kobe. On they first years when they were being bounced in the playoffs, that was the time it was 1 Shaq 2 or 3 young Kobe. and during close games down the stretch, that's where Kobe really shine. Even Shaq knew who should have the ball on clutch moments.

If Shaq was like Kobe in his ambition/work ethic; the tandem would have got at least 6 chips with the legit chance to get to 10... Fans don't realize how naturally gifted Shaq was while also being lazy; and fans don't understand Kobe wasn't as genetically built for greatness like Shaq/MJ/LBJ/Wemby/etc are. Him still having an equally respectable body of work makes a statement. This is all so true. All of this is why it's so silly to compare Kobe with JR Smith, Jamal Crawford, Lou Williams, etc. just because of field goal percentage, when he has way more intangibles, better defense, leadership, etc. Any of your stereotypical volume scorers today like Poole, Simons, Ivey, LaMelo, Miles Bridges, Clarkson, Sexton, Jalen Green, Keldon Johnson, etc. could never win 50 games as the best player on the team or even close, much less a championship.

Imagine if the NBA playoffs were in a 1-16 seed format, there would be no doubt, the finals matchups for them would have been different, it's either San Antonio, the Kings, or Portland in the NBA Finals instead of the weaker teams in the East. Kobe would've won Finals MVP in one of those matchups cuz Shaq is being limited to those teams on offence.

Kobe never forgot slights. To add Del Harris who coached the Lakers Kobe's first two seasons was on the Mavs bench as an assistant when he dropped 62 points in three quarters. I thought kobe was great in that game 3 in sactown in 2001, then game 4 happened, like dude he is HIM! of course I did not use the Him pronoun back then. another thing frobe did back then, he always torched the spurs, even in 2003 when they lost the series. he is 4-2 vs duncan in the playoffs, if you would count the series where he tore his achilles beforehand he still 4-3 watching from home.
