Damn, I didn’t even realize when I brought a pair of the Chukka back in 2022. I didn’t know nothing about the company story. I solely got them because I liked the way it looked with my outfit. 6 months later and now I can speak on the quality and durability and comfort of the product. I fully recommend and support Caswell.

I picked up their Chukka's at the pop-up shop they had in DC. The pull-up on the leather is so awesome and I think it's their only model that uses danite soles. I'm going to try to pick up one or two more from them before the price jump.

I never paid much attention to Caswell when I saw that they didn’t have width options so this boot really surprised me which is a nice feeling at this level of bootnerdom. That bison boot though 🥵 reminds me of the highland boot that Ariat discontinued a few years ago.

They look to be competing with Grant Stone, Parkhurst, and a number of other companies with that price point and construction. I like the look of the last and they have some unique leather choices. The celastic heel probably isn't a big deal since these will mostly be worn as casual boots with the occasional moderate hike thrown in I think. Hope they offer some wide widths in the future.

Loved your review, used your link, and gave serious thought - until seeing the sizes available. The largest size is 12. Would appreciate a size 12.5 and 13 when they're ready to expand their line. I agree, these look great.

Nick, you may want to contact Kevin and get his recommendation for sizing and Lasts. Caswell Bootmakers build boots on five (5) different Lasts. I have wide, flat feet and my Caswell's' on the Porter Last fit perfectly with no pinching or cramping, and there's plenty room in the toe box.

I also have the Grant Stone Diesel Walnut Bison and the most noticeable difference is the contrasting thread on the Lisbon boots vs the matching color thread on the Diesel. The Lisbon also has a sleeker look.

I went up a half size from my Diesel boots and have the same amount of toe wiggle room in both. I don’t have the Caswell Bison but I do have the Lisbon in Oiled Shoulder and Black Chromexcel

@ChrisotW oh nice! I got my diesels in the same size as my ramblers from white's boots. Both fit pretty much the same, but the diesel is more snug around my heel which is nice some days. I'm waiting on a pair of mp-shermans, hoping the fit for those is pretty similar to the diesels.

I’ve been thinking about the carbon footprint of free returns since I watched this review. It would be interesting to compare the carbon footprint of creating the boot vs. purchasing the boot vs. exchanging the boot for sizing vs. obviously just not buying the boot (because I don’t need another boot for the rest of my life).

Yeah, carbon footprints are a sneaky thing! I read an article recently that said that k-cups, despite being made of plastic, actually give you a lower average carbon footprint per cup of coffee than essentially any other way of brewing as people tend to use too much coffee for a given volume of water otherwise, and all that wasted coffee winds up leading to a bigger carbon footprint involved in the wasted production. Very counterintuitive but that's what the data show!

Looks cool, I have more boots than I need. The finishing looked good on the video Considering they use different types of leathers and there is veg tan insole and mid sole, the price is good. Could you compare them to a Thursday with a dressy last, with different types of leathers with better materials and better finishing.

Honestly this company doesn't excite me very much. Yet another kind of generic service boot pattern. The leather choices are fairly interesting, though, and I like the sole choice a lot. The construction also seems quite good, and will be even better once they've got leather counters. So despite the lack of excitement for me, it still does seem like you're getting quite a lot of boot for the money, which is a good thing for sure.

I have a collection of about 100 pairs of boots...and even i bought several American boots after watchung tour video's....i quickly sold them of again. Compaired with the boots of Santoni, Prada , Guardian...Gucci they are ...voor So take yourselves more serious and take at least a look at them. Matter of real compairing.
