Thanks so much Nick for hanging out and taking the time to check out my collection!!! It was a blast and I learned a ton about upping my video quality and delivery!! One question I get often is "what is your favorite pair of boots?" and it's such an impossible question to answer. But I think it's videos like these that force me to at least start narrowing in on what could be my favorites :-D

Exactly. This looks rugged but how does it compare to a PNW boot. I wish rose anvil did a “cut in half” video on some Truman’s too to compare leather thickness, if there are any synthetic materials and such.

@@Stridewise how would you compare a pair of Truman's to a pair of Nicks boots (if both were using Java waxed flesh)?
@jj4483love2 жыл бұрын
@@jaystavros7177 I've had both and the leather is about the same, the difference is in the soles. Nick's are way stiffer and harder to break in. also the lasts are different. Nick's is rounder in the toe, Truman is slightly more almond and fit and feel similar to viberg 2030 last. Truman has been more comfortable from the jump in my opinion
@jaystavros71772 жыл бұрын
@Joshua Jones thank you for your reply. Sounds like the Truman's may be more my style. I'm a fan of the Grant Stone Leo last's almond shape so Truman should be right up my alley.

Great review Nick! I really enjoy the collaboration videos. I just received my Coach Ramblers and I'm in the process of breaking them in. Really is a beautiful unique leather, I don't have a waxed boot such as these and I'm really curious to see how they wear. Dale is a great guy as well and his "Truman Expertise" convinced me to get them. You should try a new pair to see if the new last has changed for you.

Really appreciate the reviews on the Truman boots. What is your opinion on the Eugene soles? I really like the black tea core. On their website it’s listed with the Eugene soles. Can you just use shoe cream on the waxed flesh to restore it to the original aesthetic and texture or once boot wears in are they never the same? How do you feel the re-waxed leather looks and feels compared to factory fresh? I saw a post from Nick Horween that mentioned just applying venetian cream

I can only afford the Thursday Loggers in Cacao but my grail boot is the Truman Java waxed flesh cap toed boot. It only looks better and better as the longer you wear them. I can't wait until the nap comes through on my Loggers in Cacao. I also have the Captains in Black Classic and Arizona Adobe.

I remember them back then, didn’t have the extra funds back then but my daughter was at U of Colorado then and I went to visit them in a trip to Boulder but they were closed. Back then it seemed like all they made were of of kudu leather and there were some white with a bit of grey that were awesome. I don’t recall the name. It was circa 2016.

Love the videos man! I have a video idea if you’d be interested in hearing. I’ve been into boots and my girlfriend is beginning to get into them too, and I would love an introduction to boots video. Something covering leathers, lasts, brands, heel heights, soles, uses, and styles. I think it would be popular and very informative for those just starting out on their boot journey. Your channel is so nice because of your simple breakdowns and I would love a boots 101 intro video to share with her and my other friends new to the boot scene. Regardless, I love the content!

@@Stridewise I would love pair of the Java Wax but I would need to import them, it’s so hard to get the boots you review in the uk. There is less than a handful of shops that sell Red Wings so smaller companies are a nightmare to get. Most of the uk boot makers seem to make brogue like boots so it’s always the same looking styles and colours.

Thanks for the review. I’m glad I ordered the Java Waxed Flesh (20 last) a week ago. I imagine Truman will be backlogged soon after this video. How does the 20 last compare to the 79? How is the break in period and are they ever comfortable? I’ve had boots throughout my career that took a while and never really settled (Cocorans) and others that fit like a glove after a few ruck marches. Hoping these will be suitable for trail hiking in the future.

Would you recommend getting a "structured toe or unstructured" when buying Truman? I was going to get the toe cap so it will have extra leather I assume, but I don't want it drooping down as it's worn in. I don't need any toe/foot protection, just purely want the toe to stay as original long-term as possible. Thanks for your advice. Also, how's your experience been w/quality control? I've read some pretty unhappy customers & was wondering if they've addressed that and you'd be cool w/spending $570 for a pair when I could get tried & true Nicks...but the Truman leather is out of sight & my 1 pair of Truman's is definitely top 2 favorites. Customer service via email only, real bummer. The toe cap questions is the most important. I'd really appreciate your advice, and even your opinion on a Nick's "celastic toe" reinforced option vs "unstructured," if you know? Stoked they listed to me when I asked they offer their best selling boots, specifically the Coach Rambler in 8" or "Upland" and other options for customers who wanted to design their own boots, and they did it...so I'm buying a pair for sure but wonder if you'd recommend going structured even w/a toe cap and plain toe boot from Truman? Thanks much! wT
