They wont automatically do a regen while ur working if you have the idle set below 1800rpm thats why it idles up on its own during a parked regen. and the systems with DEF still have the same DPF filter the DEF is a secondary system. DEF = alot more problems i work in the oil sand mines northern Alberta machines with DEF are down way more then there up especially in the winter. Appreciate the video im looking at buying a 259D trying to figure out what all problems they might have

Should the ends of the pistons that tilt the bucket back and forth have a little bit of play in them? Our machine is used vary rarely (we hat a cat 252b with wheels) and is not used roughly, just some general work around the property. We grease it 1-2 times a year because we don’t use it much at all

Yeah. They all do. Grease it every 4-6 hrs and run it.

I have a tracked 257D basically same machine except I have the ASV type tracks. I watched your older video of you changing oil and fuel filters-when you said the machine just gave birth, I'm still chuckling about that because that's what it is for sure! Definitely agree on those crappy little shields that should be sealed to keep the belly clean. Did you change the tracks yourself? DEF and DPF are both fitted on anything above 75 horsepower. You don't want to play with DEF if you don't have to. Nice video, good luck with your kitty.

When you upgraded the tracks from 12-15.7 did you have to change any rollers? Or just put tracks on it? I have the same ordeal. I have the 12 but would like to go to the 15.7

Cat has by far the nicest cab, not a lot of room but quiet and comfortable. Everything else is super unreliable. Breaks down more than the other big 3.
