I think it would be much easier if you cleaned the mud off before you dissemble and install the new parts. Breathing in way too much dust and dirt.

Matt, I’m so happy for you, man how many times did you say, “I need a track loader” … congratulations. If we weren’t living 3 time zones apart, I’d bug you to sell me your Bobcat! My lady keeps rolling her eyes when I say, but Matt showed how cool a skid steer operates, so I need one myself LOL 😂. So sorry mate, I’m using your name to get me my toy 👊 , you rock!

I believe the failure rate of the computers and DEF in modern machines is higher than you estimate. Good choice to get an older unit.
@johneden79753 жыл бұрын
I agree, I got the Tak TL8 which is basically the same machine he’s got here. Mine is a 2014 with the DPF. I was thinking the same thing. Stay away from DEF, mine needs to periodically stop and do it’s burn thing. Usually try an do it at lunch, takes about 20min.

For an old guy I've operated most brands of skid loaders going all the way back to the early 70's. If asked about my favorite I'd have to say Takeuchi since it rarely broke(routine wear) and was a dream to handle. I think they came out somewhere around the mid 80's and were instantly liked(except for the intolerant who derided anything foreign). In my experience I think the idler gear wear is unusual, I'd never seen that. For the years and years I've spent on Takeuchi's I wouldn't want anything else. Good luck.

23:30 you can see some spots on the hoses in the background that are clean and black. That looks like they are rubbing. Could be worth to investigate.

Changing the final drive oil could be a good thing wen buying a new peace of equipment. No one knows wen the previous owner did the last change.

Matt, I found your video informative, thorough and genuine, particularly when you discovered small disappointments that require replacement, yet were not deal-breakers. Your ability to perform these repairs is impressive. I'm researching track steers for possible purchase (vs a compact tractor) for my small acreage. Thank you for posting this to inform me and others...appreciated !

Hey bud great video as always. I run a track skid steer daily one thing I learned about 10 years ago is when moving fine or dusty product be careful of turning or getting in to much because it will throw a track so what I do is use a wider bucket then the machine that way it keeps it away from the tracks. That's a great machine and with only alittle over 3000 hrs if the previous guy did the proper maintenance it will last you a long time.

@@DieselCreek I reckon you paid a fair price matey & the machine appears to have been pretty well cared for by the previous operator. Nobody could have predicted the starter taking a crap either (might be worth getting a new gear for it, as the current one may wear the ring gear on the flywheel due to the reduced contact area).

Great video! I went back and watched the last part again of the barn demo part 2, and now I think I know the story of where that track loader came from that you rightfully looked so pleased about. In your capable hands, it did a great job of fine grading.

Only thing I can comment on is tracks vs tires, the tracks ride a little rougher but the machine seems to me, to be more stable when lifting near the machine's limit. It doesn't sway or lean forward like a wheeled machine. And actually I like the lift the cab to change the filter layout, as it forces you to look at all the hoses and fittings you normally would never check. So you should catch a problem before it is a big problem. I worked at a company that had truck, tractor and machine services figured out. Every time you change the oil on anything, replace the drain plug with a high flow hydraulic fitting. Or in stuff with belly pans a length of hydraulic hose with a high flow fitting. Get your self a good fluid pump, with the matching high flow fitting and suck the oil right out, never making a mess again. Hook the lines together and pump the waste oil in a drum, no more drain pans or dirt in your face trying to get access to the plug.
@TestECull3 жыл бұрын
Eh, you have a decent idea but in practice all putting the oil filter there accomplishes is making people reticent to PM their machine in the first place. I saw some of that manifest when I bought my '85 F150 back in '07; it has the 300 I6 and the previous owners never changed #6 spark plug on the grounds they simply couldnt reach it and didnt want to climb up into the engine bay or get some extensions out. Thing had an intermittent miss and that was the culprit; that spark plug had worn to about 120-130 tho gap while the other five were in the 35-45 thou range one would expect. I changed all six...the othef five were about due anyway...and the miss went away. Put service components in easy to reach places or they wont get serviced. First thing I would do if I had this machine would be to relocate the oil filter, fill, drain ports to a place easily accessed by merely opening the back door where they should have been since day one. 15 minute PM.

I work for a case dealership and we also sell Takeuchi’s and I have to say the tak. Is the best skidsteer on the market . We NEVER have a tak. In the garage for major repairs and if we do usually it’s because of lack of maintenance. For the price you got it’s a slamming deal. The delivery pump you found on the back door is factory.
