Күн бұрын

In today's video we're seeing a Cat 336E ripping out approaches for a road reconstruction job. Shortly after this excavator pulls the approaches, the mill comes through and takes out the main roadway. You'll be seeing a cat excavator and cat bulldozer running.

Pretty smooth operating! Does a good job keeping bucket flat. Haven't been on anything bigger than a 320 but ran one long enough to know that some things are actually easier on a larger machine. Thanks for the video vacation! 🇺🇸💪

why is the operator waisting swing time he could just as well swing to the right and yes im a excavator operator unless there is some overhead obstruction in the way that pervents him from swinging to the right just my 2 cents in

Awesome to see how it gets done! I was thinking wouldn’t it be a lot nicer if that bucket had a claw on it so the operator could get bigger pieces of material?
@mikecube3542
@mikecube3542 3 жыл бұрын
When you have a large machine, it's more productive with just an open bucket. Especially with thin material. A thumb would mostly crumble everything and leave a mess to clean up.

@@mikecube3542 that makes sense, learn something new everyday I guess
@DieselandIron
@DieselandIron 3 жыл бұрын
In theory, yes it would be easier. There are a couple reasons you don't see thumbs on a lot of dirt/road crews. The first, like Mike pointed out, is that larger machines are much more prone to just crumble the asphalt instead of actually grabbing it. The more powerful hydraulics on these big machines make it difficult to finesse the pieces. The second reason you don't see a lot of thumbs is because of how much extra weight they add to the end of the stick. You may only spend a week or two pulling asphalt on a job but the rest of the job is spent hogging material. Over the course of the entire job it is more efficient to not have a thumb in order to have a larger bucket and therefore a larger capacity for moving material.

He has a GPS cat behind him, why not pile up the asphalt and make the load timer quicker?

@DieselandIron 3 жыл бұрын
Like Justin responded, these are bolt on rubber pads that prevent the machine from tearing up existing asphalt/concrete as it tracks over it. In most circumstances each track pad will get a rubber pad but this company opted to only do every 4th or 5th pad.
