Dude, you're comparing a wifi connection against a physical connection. A physical connection is ALWAYS faster than wifi. Try your connection with a Cat6 cable and your speeds will be just as fast. A Cat6 cable is certified 1 Gigabit up to 330' and a Cat6A is certified to 10 Gigabit up to 330'. Your speeds aren't over 1GB and therefore you don't need Cat8.

@@AndNowYourMommaKnows I'm also legitimately concerned on whether or not that is a true Cat8 cable. Cat8 is significantly thicker and the connectors are definitely a lot more robust. If you look at the interior build of a Cat8 cable, you'd probably notice a difference between what you have versus what it should be.

The is no benefit to Cat 8 on a home network. Cat 6 will do 1000 Mbps with no issues at all. That is unless you just prefer a lighter wallet.

It looks like a good network cable but your internet will never max it out. Most American Households won't but it's a great looking cable I would keep it (better than what wifi could ever produce). If you ever great a movie server in your house & transfer stuff wired you'll see that cable go to work.

I'm using the newest router Comcast has. It has Wi-Fi 6 so on Wi-Fi your internet speeds will be really high if you also have a device with Wi-Fi 6. Bro, you do realize when you go from WIFI to ETHERNET you will always see a big difference from WIFI to HARD WIRED.. You different speed is due to hooking up a WIRED connection, not the cat 8 wire.. Although Cat 8 is the best wire you can get today, but still compares to 10 gig of cat 6 can provide.

@@AndNowYourMommaKnows I would do that, cause I am actually running into some issues with my new CAT 8 Ethernets giving me tiny lag spikes in my streams now for whatever reason, almost thinking of going back to my CAT 6 as I was not getting these issues prior. CAT 8 might be to early for its time, just one of those internet issues that can not be explained.

Yea figured my issue out, my Modem has 2 different ports 1 Gig & 10gig. And I had Cat 8 in the 1 gig, and it was giving me random ping issues. Until I used the 10gig port instead. Weird issue but that did it for me. So if you are using a 10Gig cable make sure it in a 10gig port coming out of your Modem then into your router. 👍🏼

keep in mind all of this changes dramatically if you are using a VPN - swapped out all my cabling to CAT 8 and saw huge differences. The ethernet cable connector never changes only the cable noob.

The wire into my house from the pole is coax and the wire that goes to my router is coax. Then the Ethernet cable is connected to my router going to my laptop. Did that answer your question?

No. 15 feet of Cat 5 will not degrade your signal in any meaningful way. A 4K Netflix stream tops out at 25 Mbps. An ancient Cat 5 cable will do 100 Mbps up to 330 feet with no loss of speed. The more common Cat5e cable will do 1000 Mbps at up to 330 feet. The will be absolute no benefit to changing to Cat 8. That is unless you just prefer a lighter wallet.

I have a video where I tested Verizon's 5G Home Internet service and it struggled to reach 50 Mbps. Pretty ironic.

You don't need a higher port to take advantage of a higher Ethernet cable. But like everything it's possible your device can only output so much bandwidth at a time. Alsoremember the higher the number the more people can use the internet so you really don't need so much bandwidth.

Interesting, I have CAT-7 Shielded cable that is 30ft going from my Ethernet netherworld splitter to my PC and seen a difference over my same length CAT-5e cable. When I had my CAT-5e cable connected I wouldn't see more then 340Mbps Download and 38Mbps Upload on a 940Mbps connection from Spectrum here in Los Angeles, CA. I swapped it to CAT7 and my speeds are now at 650Mbps Download and 42Mbps Upload speeds. So I'm not sure what these other dudes are talking about that a CAT5e can do 1GB of data speeds. Maybe on a really short length of like 5 to 10 feet? 🤷‍♂️ my real test would be buying thos CAT8 cable and see if I see a bigger difference from my current CAT7 to the CAT8 cable. Might just buy one. But re running the wire underneath my house is a pain with only 3 feet of crawling space lol! Thank You For taking the time to make this video. Speaking from first hand experience working with Cat 5e in data center environments, I can say that Cat 5e will happily do gigabit speeds all day long. You either had a damaged cable or some other issue.

Seeing a lot of videos saying it did not improve, or did not improve by much . I wonder if their modems need to be upgraded? I just bought a 1 Gig plan. But the modem I have is rated only to 300 Mbps. Seems upgrading the modem to 1Gig would help.

@@charlescoker7752 It sounds like your router is older. Like the new routers can put out more bandwidth. You should get a router that at least has Wi-Fi 6 because that will give you a idea of how advance your router is. But I use a router that is a modem also.

That’s the difference between being hard lined vs using your on board wireless card. WiFi 6 isn’t about speed as much as it is prioritizing traffic. You’d get the same hard line speed with cat 6 or higher cable.

You don't even need a cat8 ethernet cable for that speed.... cat8 is useful if you have a LAN network that can travel at 40Gbs...Or if you have a 10Gbit internet connection. For your internet speed you just need a cat6 one.

Wired will always be faster then wifi, You should test it wired with cat6 then cat 8. Your wifi modem should be tested with cat6 then change it out to cat8. This will give you more of a real test that proves cat 8 is better.

A 40GB router that uses cat8 costs about €30k, an adaptor for your laptop would also be very expensive and at the end of it your ISP will still only give you 1GB max.

@@eliasgroen4005 i would check with your provider - get them to check first with all settings and connections from their end - are you on High Speed Internet or ADSL2 are you using the provider's modem, or have you BYO Modem. if BYO, check all settings are good. after that, check connections at the wall, make sure they are connected properly. If done by the Provider, get them to come and check the connections. if the provider says you should get 25mbps, and you are only getting 5 - 10 mbps, the provider has a problem with your connection or their Modem, if your Modem, you have a problem with the modem or its settings. Another one, change the cable between the wall and the modem, sometimes a brand new cable can be faulty, the internal wiring is delicate and easy to have an internal split or bad connection.

Oh man, the first thing is that you don't have a 40gbit network adapter. second, your provider does not give you 40gbit speed thirdly, you test with an ordinary speedtest when, to check the capabilities of the cable, you need two identical computers with good hardware and use iperf for this
