So sad to have missed this discussion! Always so enlightening to watch the playbacks. 😊 Something that stuck with me from a previous discussion you held was hygiene regarding water bowls/fountains, and it got me thinking in horror about other overlooked things my cat interacts with on the daily! Do you have any recommendations on how to clean cat toys, tunnels, beds, etc., in an effective way, but that may not disrupt their familiar scent associations with those items? Thank you so much for your valuable insight, as always! ♥️

What a great comment and thank you for this - when it comes to toys and tunnels we wouldn’t want to wash these unless they were soiled because we would remove all of the cats scent but bedding regularly but always having an extra scented used blanket to pop over the clean bed will help reduce stress of the bed not smelling of them - then after a few days wash the “ topper “ so they always a safe familiar place to rest

Sammi-san loves the crumpled brown paper that comes as packing material. I can always get his attention by crinkling up a bit of it. I get, it sounds a lot like a mouse running through a pile of dry leaves.

Petunia has a lot of anxiety issues. Anytime day that I work up a sweat I leave my shirt in her cat bed. She feels more secure if she can wrap up in my scent if a stranger comes in or if something unusual happens.

Thanks, interesting as usual! For most of their meals we throw kibble to our cats. They all have their own individual spot but like to mix it up at times. One cat likes to find kibble hidden in white tissue paper. They love kibble thrown into their tunnels or down the stairs to The landing. One cat, however has great fun trying to steal kibble thrown to his friends.😊 They are indoor cats only.

I have two cats that showed up at my doorsteps one year apart. The tortie is the oldest. A grey tabby is the youngest. The tortie used to be outgoing and playful but is now timid and scared of everything. The tabby is now playful and outgoing. What happened?

She is probably decreasing in confidence as the grey kitty matures and becomes more confident - multi cat dynamics can wax and wane in relationships - the main point here is to try to increase tortie confidence by allowing her to have time out in a safe space where you can hang out with her and have solo play - as in the video I mention reducing tensions by feeding separate will help too if you don’t already do this and provide synthetic pheromone support as well

I'm 62 and just got my first cats 5 years ago , I have a jealousy issue with one. Is there anything I can do for that?

Certainly have one to one time with both and play separately and if needed using L tryptophan amino acid supplement which is in some foods such as Royal Canin Calm but you can also buy this as a supplement to add into food directly - avoid catnip instead opt for pet remedy or valarian

@kittysittycatbehaviourist Thank you , I do spend time with them individually. I will definitely try your recommendations. I built a screen door to put up in my hallway to keep the jealous one away from the other. She likes to bully the one she's jealous over. I have 3 females, I'm thinking that might have been a mistake in getting all females. I didn't plan that , my 2 black cats were the last kittens available and my little gray was a run away.

Not all cats are confident and appreciate human touch - especially if they have not been exposed to humans and day to day household living during their sensitive period as kittens . Take lots of time going at your cat’s pace and don’t initiate contact let them come to you which they may in time but it can take years for a socially distant cat to warm up to human affection and good intentions
