Күн бұрын

This video is part 2 of rebuilding a Caterpillar D10R dozer blade tilt hydraulic cylinder. In this episode we are machining, welding and honing to make the new cylinder barrel. We start with machining a piece of 10 ¾” x 9 ¼” Unhoned steel tube to prep it for the head flange and barrel end cap. We then fit and metal core weld the head flange onto the new barrel before finish honing the internal diameter using our Delapena vertical honing machine. The barrel end is positioned on the barrel and tack welded in place. We then make up the barrel torque tube using a piece of hollow bar. We cut the length of hollow bar to size in our horizontal bandsaw and then set it up in our lathe. We turn down the outer diameter before preparing for welding by machining and boring each end of the tube. The torque tube is positioned on the barrel and tack welded in place. We then finish up with metal core welding the end cap and torque tube on to the barrel.
Missed Part 1? Watch it here: • CAT D10 Dozer Cylinder...
In this video we are using:
- TM-26120G Centre Lathe
- WIA 500i Weldmatic welder
- Everising H-360HA horizontal bandsaw

I’ve just watched a 40 plus minute video on a subject I know absolutely nothing about but enjoyed every bit of it- well, except the adds which I don’t give a shit about. Actually, I suffered through those with the hope it helps monetarily for you guys. But, television shows, as a whole, are full of crap and are generally unsatisfying. But, I thoroughly enjoy this content. I don’t truly understand a lot of what or why things are done, despite Kurtis’ succinct explanations, but it I’m learning. Thank you for the videos. Looking forward to the next one. You both be safe.

Thanks for the explanation of the welding/tacking using the lathe to centre work. It's something I have often wondered about and noted that you hand held the earth against the work.

I've always thought the production values were excellent on this channel, and that's all the more impressive looking at the problems presented by the 'talent' (in the outtakes). 😉 Hey, you guys are a whisker off 100K subscribers and the Silver Creator Award to hang on your wall. Or should it go on the wall in the editor's suite? It's well deserved as you have great content and I love how it is filmed.
