@@BA-zd8ts well you may not have done it right and you may not have used the right coconut oil. You need to get virgin un refined cold pressed coconut oil. And you need to literally drench your cat in it like dripping oil and rub it into their skin and everything and then start combing them with all that oil on and get those damn fleas out and then you can either bathe them in unscented Castile soap or just rinsed them off and warm water and let them stay kind of oily and greasy and the whole time they're oily and greasy they will repel fleas coconut oil works very well but if you don't use the right kind then you may not be having the right amounts of caloric acid in it or if you used the liquid coconut oil that is actually gotten rid of all the lauric acid

I'm not criticizing, I'm just citing my conditions, and why-so far-the advise is not applicable. Feral cats: I started, caring for the feral cats of a deceased person. Since I started feeding them, I have, (just in the last few days), successfully gained all 3 kittens confidence, and can pet them all. Flea brush/comb and vacuum cleaner works great. Use a small brush head on the vacuum , then comb and vacuum your flea bag twice a day. After you're done vacuuming your cat, let the vacuum run for a few minutes to suffocate fleas in the vacuum. Preferably store the vacuum cleaner outside the house. Use a vacuum with a bag. Shop vacs without bags will become flea hotels so make sure you empty them immediately somewhere outside the house. Once a cat gets used to being vacuumed they start to like it. Vacuum yourself too and of course every nook and cranny of your house. Spray Cedar Oil all over the house and rub it into your cats fur. Put small bowls of water with a few drops of liquid soap all over the house. Fleas jump in it for water and drown because the soap breaks the surface tension of the water. you will be surprised how many fleas you capture every day.

I only put soapy water and a light where I can close the door to keep my pets away until I empty it the next day because they would have to drink a little just because it's there. They have plenty of fresh water all the time, but I know they'd have to have some of the soapy water, too and would probably be sick.

Im sorry but some of this information is incorrect and potentially harmful. Most essential oils are toxic to animals. Essential oils should always be diluted, different manufacturers have different potences and without proper dilution can can skin burns. Also they way they are toxic is the cats liver can't prosses the substances such as garlic or lavender so it builds up in the liver so even if you only give a little bit over time its slowly building up the toxics in your cats liver. It's best to just keep essential oils and pets separate. Certail smells may be calming to animals, or a deterrent to pests but please just don't use essential oils with animals. I'm not trying to be rude but this needs to be known too many people are spreading miss information. Proper education saves lives. Thank you

Also you should not use drying agents on your cat. Baking soda, salt, borax all those things that are supposed to dry the fleas should only be used on the carpets, cat beds, furniture etc. If you are going to use remedies that involve bathing the cat just use dawn dish soap, the longer it sits the more likely to kill the fleas 5 minutes + is best, if you just soap the cat and immediately wash it off it usually just stuns the fleas and they bite on till they come back to life

I used to have the same belief system and thought it was all hooey but after I've seen the miracles these modalities work, I'm a believer. There are lots of misconceptions about things like garlic and essential oils as it pertains to cats. You ARE correct in that every manufacturer is different, that they must be diluted in a proper carrier oil, etc., but when used correctly and properly, they are phenomenal.

We live in a cul-de-sac and are taking in the ferals that no one else wants. I'll tell you this Cynthia, out of ALL those cats there are maybe 4 that actually like getting wet. Yes, your cat is one of many, but cats as a whole do NOT like getting wet. I've been a cat owner my entire life and being 55 I'll tell you, it's uncommon to have a cat like yours. Love your video! Sadly, I have/had a flea infestation. Both inside and out. I have 8 strictly indoor cats ,but have a small dog which goes of course in and out. yikes! #1 learn your "Enemy", the when, where and how of flea life cycle. #2 start the attack at the source "outside", even a screened porch I did this by spreading a bale of cedar chips...messy but worked. then move efforts indoors. wash all beddings,washable rugs,vacuuming everything then treat animals. (Dont waste efforts treating/combing animal then let them go in there bed loaded with enemy) this is a race , ALL THIS DONE QUICKLY! SAME DAY .

I'm exhausted I worked all day and then I come home putting out salt and baking soda everywhere on everything then cornstarch on my cats that's supposed to suffocate please I have one big Maine Coon that wants to fight me got a little on him he bolted. Just washed my Jack Russell how Mercy I've never seen somemany fleas I bathed her in Dawn dish detergent the blue kind I don't know if you can use the antibacterial kind but I know you can use the blue they say. poor baby I got her dried off got all the fleas washed down the tub got her in a kennel so she can't run around the house and pick up some more where this salt and stuff's been put down think that's why she had much more on her because I had put the salt and baking soda down and they ran to her bless her heart. My smallest cat seems to be resting comfortably on her blanket in my room which I also put baking soda and salt on. cornstarch must really work and it's natural I don't think it'll hurt them. I was told by a flea company that fleas burrow down into the dirt over the winters. Depending upon which fleas were dealing with bc there are different types/species of fleas. I read awhile back that if you can keep the humidity down to below forty five percent and it will dry out the fleas in the carpets. I comb my cats everyday, and vacuum twice a week and is seems to work well. I have set my hvac to keep the humidity at forty four, and it really cut down on the fleas.

Humans are made biologically to thrive with humidity at about 50-55%. That said, you're right about lower humidity and it being inhospital to fleas, also to mites, because I lived in Utah and Colorado (SLC Utah and Pueblo), and we had two rescues who had never been treated for fleas because it was unnecessary. I am allergic to being "sampled" by fleas, get welts, and I never had them in SLC or Pueblo. I did, however, have nose bleeds because of such low humidity, then when I got a humidifier for my bedroom, we got black mold. The cats never had fleas with the humidifier because they were indoor-only. Such work, to care for our cat(s), but worth it.

Ive washed my cats and kittens in Dawn dish soap and water some I've had to use a washcloth with some Dawn on it rub it into the skin get through the hair it's also safe for kittens that are under 5 lb and Under 12 weeks old it's what the veterinarians use whenever customers bring in their kittens that are flea infested they use Dawn and it's the original Dawn did they use to clean up the oil spills and all that kind of stuff those animals it's the same kind of dawn the original and also if you place Dawn a couple of drops into a shallow dish next to a lamp or a light on the floor the fleas will jump into the water and drowned and Walter trading the dawn will kill them so try it out I counted probably a good seventy something fleas that were in my displate regular plate that you eat off of it was shallow and I put water not quite up to the room just probably about halfway and then put a little squeeze in there of Dawn, placed one dish under a table lamp by the couches on the floor and placed a dish in the bedrooms under a table lamp on the floor and also one on the bathroom Nd kitchen floor barrowing a desk lamps for them and they did what my friend said it would do! Also, try to use a white or light colored dish, flees like white for some reason?! So never have a white or light colored towel or fabric where your cats lay, rest or sleep. FYI, this treatment is also very good for dogs and puppies too! Also, you can squeeze Dawn into a spray bottle ,about 1/4 of the bottle and the rest water and use it as a spray for your furniture and rugs. But with cats or dogs, you'll have to bathe them daily along with the setting of the dishes till you notice no more of those nasty pests to rid your house and pets of flees. It's all natural and safe for you and your pets.

Here’s what I read about it.. (not sure if true).. Diatomaceous earth: A powder composed of the fossilized remains of single-celled algae that is sprinkled on carpets to get rid of a flea infestation, then vacuumed up. Known to be harmless if ingested; however, please tell your cat not to inhale it as it can be toxic if inhaled. Therefore, all pets should be removed from the home if you choose to use this powder, and you should also wear a protective mask. I don’t believe they make cat masks just yet. And this option alone won’t get rid of the fleas on your cat.

I washed my kitty in lemon juice and water mixture. The fleas pretty much jumped off...very easy to kill. I rinsed her off. As she licked herself, I observed that her feces became healthy. After I observed no more fleas I used eucalyptus oil massaged into her coat. I washed the floors in lemon juice and eucalyptus oil mixture. In case an adult fleas layed any eggs..they couldn't stick to her fur. It took 9 days total to keep her flea free and happy. Lots of cuddles worry free. I also washed my hair in lemon juice just in case.

Cats skin level is a 7 which means there skin is more sensitive then ours triple, they can bleed from these remedies.Please be aware, that your local vet would advise you not to use things that could dry your cats skin out or burn them.They can become anemic from some of these remedies constantly used.

Here’s what I read about it.. (not sure if true).. Diatomaceous earth: A powder composed of the fossilized remains of single-celled algae that is sprinkled on carpets to get rid of a flea infestation, then vacuumed up. Known to be harmless if ingested; however, please tell your cat not to inhale it as it can be toxic if inhaled. Therefore, all pets should be removed from the home if you choose to use this powder, and you should also wear a protective mask. I don’t believe they make cat masks just yet. And this option alone won’t get rid of the fleas on your cat.

Don't forget the diatomaceous earth! It can be rubbed into the fur, avoiding eyes and nose. Also, lime your yard all around the house to deter fleas from living there. Lime 2-3X a year.

I rub some Diatomaceous Earth into my cat's fur from time to time. It doesn't even have to be on the whole cat, as the fleas move around. This requires minimal annoyance of the cat. Boric acid works too, but DE is more effective. The fleas die. I also puff DE on my bed and upholstery. This works on carpet, but I think boric acid is less likely to damage it. DE is abrasive; boric acid isn't.

Our vet said fleas are developing immunity to the flea treatments like Advantage and Frontline. She suggested a few things like DE and salt sprinkled around the kill the adults, but it has to be done every day. Also, lavender spray. NOT OIL BECAUSE IT'S TOXIC TO CATS! But soak lavender flowers in water like tea, strain into a spray bottle, and spray your cat. My cats don't like the spray, so I just wet my hands and rub it in their fur. And if you have been using a particular brand of flea treatment, try a different one. And the trick of a plate of water on the floor with a few drops of dish soap works great! I place ours under a nightlight and empty it in the morning. Lots of dead fleas!!!

Reading the not positive comments on garlic. Moderation is key. Also, I would NEVER feed my cat raw garlic! I sometimes use a tad in the wet food. I use dried minced garlic. Sprinkle and mix in 12 - 15 small flakes.

@@ellenparks5096 You can grip the back of the neck. Don't lift him by it though! Also helps to have another person to help hold him. Other person can hold the front legs, since even with holding the neck they can swipe you some. I'd also suggest having a towel on the bottom of the bath or sink since the slipping freaks them out and makes them struggle even more. I've had my share of baths. One time doing it on my own with my late cat, he managed to stab me in a inner joint of my pinkie finger. It got hooked in there and with the struggling, he was just yanking it around. Hurt like hell. I still have the scar. I only resort to the bath in bad cases. He was much better with just dipping the flea comb in diluted washing up liquid and getting him damp that way. Took longer but was better for a minor case. If you are struggling with the comb, get him when he's napping or distracted eating. It does help a lot though to have a flea treatment that works. I mean the last case I had with him was because the fleas became immune to the one I'd been using every month for the last several years. Yeah. That happens.

I always have some on hand, it kills all kinds of insects and is safe for pets & people although you don't want to inhale it so take care not to. Amazon has it for a reasonable price. It's kinda messy but it definitely works, I sprinkle it on carpets, sofas etc, let sit at least overnight then vacuum well. :)

I lather mine up with a very thick coat of Dawn dishwashing liquid starting at the neck 1st and work your way down so the fleas don't have a chance to run up to the cats head to hide. Add a little warm water and massage the soapy lather in reeeeeally good for at least 3 or 4 minutes or as long as your cat is comfortable with. Then rinse really really well. The absolute best place to do this is in the kitchen sink so you can rinse them very thoroughly with the vegetable spray nozzle thing cause dishwashing liquid is hard to rinse out otherwise. Plus the pressure of the water coming out of the nozzle helps to rinse the dead fleas out that burrowed deep while being lathered AND it feels kind of like a massage and helps to calm your kitty down a bit during a stressful bath time! Use Frontline, get a flea lights Bug Md sell them , Bug Md spray for there beds and lightly on your animal ,or flea comb them , fleas hate lemons ,get lemon juice and or lemons drip it outside by the door ,to avoid them from coming in the house ,dust your legs and shoes off to avoid them coming in your house,vacuum every other day ,and Clean out the vacuum bag outside so the fleas don't get into the house , wash bedding in hott water every 3 days ,and dry in the dryer to burn them , l even put lemon juice or lemon slices in the corner and in the grass everywhere, l had flea festation, but this control it alot .

Always ask more than 1 vet , get 2 opinions, if you can use this and that , don't listen to everyone on here , some of these oils and natural stuff is bad or doesn't work ,or could kill your animals , and even ask you vet if you could use Frontline , because l would never put it on sickish ,or old cats you may be able to use advantage 2 , not as strong ,but still ask your vet.

Dawn Dish Soap. Diatomeses earth on the carpets or baking soda and salt. coconut oil rubbed on the cat. put sliced lemon in boiling water, boil down, use as a furniture spray. wear essential oils on yourself so you can safely be around fleas and not carry them home. Do not use essential oils on cats. If you must, a tiny bit of cedarwood essential oil in coconut oil is effective and the least unsafe.
