I too have had one for years & love it. You are to do regular maintenance with Cat Genie. Running the maintenance solution through will help with a lot of your issues. It takes the stickiness off of the granules and the scooper. You can remove it and lubricate it with Pam, pledge, spray on car wax….Make sure you rinse it before putting it back in. A litter box mat in front works well too. Good luck. You will soon love it!

As a few others noted, the Cat Genie AI fixes the issues you mentioned. It runs a shorter cycle and is much easier to activate, with one button press. Also, it’s really worth getting the dome and door and the matt. These additions significantly reduce the amount of gradual waste and smell.

Hey just want to say, your scoop's arm is not seated right. Mine catches a lot more on the bumps than yours does which is why it has so much of the granuals going down the drain. I've had mine for almost 5 months and I still don't have a noticeable decrease in the number of granuals in the pan

These issues sound more like personal issues than on a machine that was engineered and built by a human being to try and please/cater to every possible kind of cat pee, poo, and owner. It's not the robot maid from The Jetsons. This is an amazing cat product! May I suggest buying a second machine to offset the cleaning time? Or set it to clean it when your cats are less toilet-active (like at night?).

Better time is during the day/morning. At least my 3 are the most active during the night. Btw. Love it! All the "issues" are true, but are really little "inconveniences" compared to the traditional litter box and the cleaning and purchase of clumping litter. I expect to find the cost to be less in the long run even with a little going down the drain every day. I got the AI. I was leary about the extra $100 US, but have found that the extra info it provides invaluable. With a camera (and I little additional help from one of the kitties) it helped make me aware of a urinary tract issues (crystals),

I bought this cat genie and then I bought 2 cat genie AI. Best thing I have ever bought my cat and my self. I love my cat genie AI’s. I scoop my cats poop to keep my machines cleaner. I am home 24/7 365. I never had any issues. People cannot expect perfection but to me it’s perfection !!! I never had any issues with any of my 3 cat genies.

So let me get this straight: Pressing a button five times ONCE is such an ordeal, that you had to complain about it and then regular litter does not put litter granules all over the place you think? Put a mat on the floor that will capture the granules! My cats have understood in no time that they have to wait until the cycle is over. They sit down and wait.

Got 3 indoor cats. Two boxes. The cat genie in the first floor bathroom. The upstairs has an “auto” litter box that has an arm that is supposed to scoop up all the matter & dump it in a plastic bag lined bin. It doesn’t do that though. Either it flips out of the box on the floor or it skims the top layer & rarely picks anything up. That one I have to scoop out regularly. Had issues with the cat genie in the video (it was a decade old) & bought the newer one. Actually the older one I’m considering to use as a replacement for my auto-manual litter box. 🤔 maybe I should make a complaint video like our Canadian Karen did 😁???

I learned a big lesson with this company. I needed a 2nd cat genie box so I bought 2 Cat Genie AI’s for 1 cat. So she can have one cleaning and can use the 2nd one in the guest bathroom. The cat genie AI will stop if they need to use the bathroom during the cleaning cycle but I didn’t want my fuzzy cat to have to do that so I bought a 2nd one. The best gift I have ever bought myself or my cats. These are like my Bidet’s I would take nothing for my cat genie AI. The best invention since they put mayonnaise in a jar !!! Fuzzy Kat was so happy with 2 cat genie AI’s. I had one in the master bath and one in the guest bath. I have seen other customers who also buy 2 and 3 machines depending on how many cats you have. Nothing compares to these cat genie Ai machines. The granules are awesome. These other litter robot things that use real cat litter don’t compare to the cat genie AI.

Thank you for this video. 1. I appreciate a review of this product. Our household is thinking about getting two kittens. My husband is anxious and compulsive about cleanliness and smell. This seemed like the perfect solution.... allbeit an expensive one. 2. I appreciate and believe your review. It and you seem genuine and because you aren't affiliated with any company, it lends you more credibility. 3. However, I would like to request that you describe all that is going on in the video. Some people rely more on your words. When you use statements such as: "It does this thing." or "See what it does here?" Some of us can not see these things and it would be helpful if you described exactly what was happening. Thanks much for putting this video out there. Even though I could not see everything that was happening, I gleaned more information and will probably not be spending my money on this.

Don't buy one. I bought one and had so many problems. After 2 mths sent it back. They send parts but never offered to replace it with a new one. My 90 days warranty would have run out with them simply replacing parts that were not fixing the problem. Was not worth the money.

When you consider a Litter Robot is in excess of $500.00, rather large, you must dump the litter manually, and if a cat urinates twice in the same place, the clumps become larger than the unit can handle, the CatGenie is very economical.

Hello, as a little tip, you can also use millet in place of the granulate, it is better for the environment and very cheap.

Millet expands when wet, it may germinate related to the washing cycle, and may void the warranty.

I got the new one the AI version. It fixed all those issues you talked about. And for the leanth of time Train your cat for downtime. 30 minutes it takes now. The did not fix the granules. But Amazon had them cheap 5 pound pox

Ours breaks every 3 to 4 years and can't be fixed. The warranty is only 2 years and I can see why. It works really well though. Just needs more improvement and longer warranty when it doesn't last. It's expensive!

I think you should read the manual again. I have the CatGenie for 8 years and nothing that you describe is a real problem. In my opinion you don not even know how to setup the machine. I have the cat activation mode and 2 cats and 10 minutes after they use it, it cleans (in this mode the catgenie works during 14 hours if they use it). If you want another mode, you have the possibility to clean 1, 2, 3 or 4 times during the day, even if the cat does not use it. So, what you want, I really do not understand...

People, there are some Cat Kits which can teach your cat using a regular toilet. Then you don't need litter at all! Teach your cats to use your toilet or buy small portable camp toilet and teach your pets use it!

the biggest issue of cat genie is the SUPER HIGH COST OF THE SPECIAL FLUID YOU HAVE TO BUY ! you did NOT mention it ! it isa damn rip,off ! big $$$ The good news is there is a hack ! you can take it apart ( which voids the warranty ) and hack the cartridges so you can then fill them w/ homemade fluid ! it is complicated and NOT everyone can do it ! but hey ! i've got 11 cats ! WE are buying two units and will take one apart for the hack !

We got ours second hand and we've been learning how to use it online. Ours just soaked the granules, scooped them up, and dumped them down the drain. It doesn't seem to be drying! We are using ONLY what the manufacturer recommends. Any tips? Thanks!

i dont know why ppl r defending it its cool in theory but i never knew my new kitten had parasites until it happend to break one day it also smells extremely awful worse than a litterbox when it cleans every time mabye in a house it would be ok but not in a smallish apartment the whole place makes me almost faint and yes the litter is acctuly one of the biggest problems i cant enjoy having a cat because its everywhere the cats can get to my bed my couch i threw it out got a litterbox again and i realized i took it for granted

The granuals are biodegradable. They break down completely in (I believe) 9 months in the septic system.

I was wondering about the overall cleaning time. 40 min is a long time if you have multiple cats. I used to have two indoor cats and there's no way either of them didn't need to use the pooper in that amount of time. Thanks for the review. I thought this could potentially be a solution for us (my partner hates litter boxes and I don't want to have cats outdoors, so we compromised & now we can't have cats lol). Hopefully they come out with a better version, it looks promising. Good day!

Talk about being nit picky. There is never going to be the perfect pooper scooper. Ten times better than a normal litter box. Just go back to the litter box then. It is the best thing we ever decided to purchase. Way cheaper than normal kitty litter and less messy. And the grossness of having to deal with the regular litter box is taken out of the picture

Amen to that, I have 7 cats, and the cost of quality clay clumping litter ads up quickly, that it's physical weight, and the inability for it to be disposed of cleanly. The Litter Robot is over $500.00 and you still have to empty it, it jams of your cat(s) urinates twice in the same spot etc.

The washable granules are what's designed for the CatGenie. It does not use clay litter. The Granules either dissolve over time from use, or are scooped up with the feces.

First world problems. Funny, in my head I was like, "Okay, Karen," and then looked down and saw her name really is Karen 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. If pushing a button more than once is your problem, I would assume you live a very unhappy life due to finding a problem with every little thing and blow it to mass proportions when it's really unnecessary... how long does it take you to deep clean your regular litter box? What do your cats do during that time? I assume they wouldn't be using the litter box, so why is it such a problem that it takes some time to clean it? What would you suggest in order to make this process possible STILL but in less time? Providing a solution to your problems can help make a review much better for a company to be able to fix it. And from the looks of it, the Cat Genie A.I. fixes all of your problems so I would suggest upgrading if these issues are THAT big of issues for you. Or smoke a blunt and relax a little and be grateful that you don't have to deep clean your litter box all the time. 🤷🏽‍♀🤷🏽‍♀
