Hello Doug. I used to be a laborer in a road builders union in Detroit. The 2 companies I worked for used a string line grade check system. Pretty easy and basic. The grade stakes were already in place and all you had to do was figure out the cut and fill for grade. Things seem really complicated nowadays and I need some guidance. I know I'll probably catch a lot of crap for the questions I'm asking but hey, I've got to do what I can to learn and keep this job. This was right around the time contractors started using lasers to find and check grade. I've been out of the construction business for well over 17 years now and I now work with a company that does their majority of work doing underground utilities, site work for new 5 to 16 story buildings, but all we are reasonable for is cutting and filling dirt around the finished pillars and the then add the stone using the bottom of the footings as the benchmark to shoot and find grade. It's confusing. Can you direct me to some educational video's to help me get a better grasp on how to check grade using these lasers? I appreciate any and all the help I can get. Instead of returning blade to load position it out to tip fully forward to discharge carry back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello again Doug. I forgot to bring up that I can operate some pieces of heavy equipment. Loaders and back hoes, tamping rollers. I would love to learn how to operate excavators and dozers. This is a great video but I'm looking for instructional/educational.

Wow!! Thats complicated and not very user friendly. Better do your homework CAT. Komatsu and Topcon are lightyears ahead of you with auto dozing features.

***** LOL nope! Just an end user. At this point I have ran the new CAT grade control machine and a Komatsu iMachine and I can tell you hands down the iMachine is light years ahead of the CAT.
