I have a golden retriever rn and he is going to be 8 in September. He is my “that once in a lifetime” dog you hear people talking about. I am tearing up literally rn just thinking about the day he leaves me. I don’t think I could handle having another one. I’ve been surrounded by cats and dogs for my whole life and I love animals. I’ve always had several at a time but my bond with him is just so strong that I don’t know if I could handle getting another dog after he passes. I've read that when someone loses their spouse, particularly men, the better the marriage the quicker they are to marry again. They want to have that relationship in their life. Makes sense, you can't ever replace a loved one, but you can have that bond with another. Arthur might have died too soon, but didn't he have a wonderful life!
