My grandfather was a lobster fisherman in the Florida Keys and he had a boat cat named Tio, and that's what Tio did. Every morning he went out with my abuelo to check the traps, eating fresh fish, getting sun on the upper deck. They even had a little raincoat made for him. He was also the official harbor/fishhouse cat, they put his picture in their calendar every year.

@Just_Pele That's a great story! I love it when communities "adopt" a mascot, like Tio. I could just picture him walking the dock in his mini raincoat, checking on everyone. In my neighborhood, we have an orange Tabby. He belongs to the people across the street and they adore him, and he just assumes everyone else on the block does as well -- and they do!

Please take care of ALL cats. I just lost my cat, Big Boy to cancer. It kills me thinking how thoughtful he was during his last days. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear of your kitty passing. My cat Annikah is very elderly now and I don't know how I will go on without her around me in my life. I saw a boat cat at our marina in Florida that looked just like this and acted just like this-- the owner asked if I could pet him and say hi to him. She didn't have to ask as I would have anyway. I don't remember seeing the logo, so amazingly, I think Fred has a twin!
