You can also let your cat choose the name they prefer. Put together a list of names u like, then several times a day call out each name to the cat & see which name attracts attention. Do this for a few days, paying attention to any name the cat responds to even if it's not an overwhelming response. I had no trouble choosing names for my two cats, a sister & brother who were about 7 weeks old. I made a list of about ten names, called out each name for a few days, & each kitten paid attention to one particular name each. They paid no attention to the other names, but when hearing the right one each kitten looked at me each time i said the name. By the way, these two cats always responded to their names by looking at me, acknowledging that they'd heard me. One of them would usually come to me if i called him to, the other sometimes came when called but almost always acknowledged it by looking up. They always seemed to be more responsive to their names than other cats I've known. Maybe combine this technique & the Vancouver Vet's technique and your cat will be better at answering. Also, one of my two cats chose another name when she was about ten. I was trying to learn how to pronounce some words in Nahuatl (aka Aztec) & whenever i said 'ocelotl' aloud one of my cats looked up. She continued to respond whenever i said it aloud, seeming to act as if that had always been her name, so from then on i used both names, sometimes together & sometimes separately. She wasn't an unusually verbal cat (her brother is very verbal), in fact never made sounds other than that low soft chirping cats often use when communicating with one another. Her brother was always a huge talker & he'd let me know if they needed anything. She never even asked for food verbally. So if she learned a name as a kitten & another name years later, responding to either or both the rest of her life, i think almost any cat could choose a name this way. I've had a lot more trouble trying to find a name for a street cat i befriended, a cat who in her early life apparently lived with someone & was well domesticated but who somehow ended up homeless for most of her life, i think about 8 years now. But she's not a very verbal cat, & I'm not yet able to take her in & thus spend more time with her, so it's taking a while to find a name she likes. Like my cat who died 3 years ago (age 17), she's extremely quiet, makes only low soft sounds occasionally. It took a year to really gain her trust, she'd been so traumatized living on the street, & though she now finally trusts me, rushes to greet me each day, I'm afraid I'll have to wait to find a name for her...soon I'll be able to take her in to live with my one elderly cat & myself & then there'll be plenty of time to try out names. Any other suggestions for finding a name for her?

Could you maybe do a video on why not to get kittens at 8 weeks old. I volunteer in a shelter and we get so many kittens from overwhelmed owners who wanted them when they were still tiny but couldn’t deal with the responsibility of it all. I often try to explain that a kitten learns social skills around her mom, she learns how hard is okay to bite, how crazy it is okay to play, cause mom has a natural way of punishing her without traumatizing her. So taking her out of that environment to early could cause Damage. We get cats that are so disturbed and have the weirdest relationships with humans. You can tell they need more attention and they are so demanding at getting it, they get frustrated very quickly and have abandonment issues. My cats was a baby when we rescued her and she was always a little special, I love her but I also know how to properly entertain her and keep her busy so she doesn’t develop aggressive tendencies. Makes me sick to my stomach people buy tiny baby cats and are so irresponsible, they either don’t have a companion cat or get frustrated when the kitten is well... a kitten. Maybe you should also talk about the benefits of adopting. We have beautiful loving cats waiting for a home that aren’t given a chance because people look for babies they don’t know how to take care of. Or think well cats are independent and don’t really need much attention

Hmmm I didn't know that...this is making me worried...my childhood cat of 15 years passed away recently. It was devastating and I was going to seek counseling for struggling through no longer having my other half in my life. But I can't live without a cat, so I recently adopted a 7 week old kitten. He is amazing and really helping me to cope. I don't have a job and I'm done with school for a while, so I've been around my little baby 24/7 since I got him. Every time he wakes up, I'm there to play with him and cuddle when he's out of play mode. He's extremely hyper and playful. I stay up all night playing with him (until he poops out) and supervising, and my family plays with him during the day. This might sound obsessive but, again, it's really helping me to cope and I love cats. I don't want him to be alone and I want him to grow up from an amazing kittenhood. Since he was separated from his mom and siblings at 7 weeks old, is it possible that he won't grow up to be aggressive if I play continuously with him? One thing I noticed is that he suckles in his sleep. Is that a bad thing? I'm a bit new to kittens so sorry if these are stupid questions. He accidentally bites my hands and feet sometimes (I am not used to hyper kitty play so I fail at dodging), but all I do is replace with a toy for positive reinforcement. Is this the right thing to do? Should I be telling him "no"? I also have an older yorkie, and he does discipline him with his own version of a gentle growl bark. Is a 7 week old orphan kitten going to turn out aggressive with behavioral problems no matter what you do, because it needed to be with its mom and siblings at 7 weeks? He doesn't appear to be exhibiting any behavioral problems, he's happy all the time, and purrs a lot. But am I mistaking some of his play for aggression that needs to be corrected in a special way? What does aggressive play in a kitten look like? I'm really overthinking this because I'm uber attached and I want him to grow up a very happy cat, not aggressive...
