Lovely demo I love to hear the birds singing in the background and your calming voice. Bravo my friend.

I liked the way you did the background of the cat - so very loose and not picky - good job!

LOVE how u do animals . Tho a beginner I have done 2 of your cats & the mouse/rat. Love the looseness & how you let the brain work. Of all that I have painted thus far your animals are by far my favorite (of my attempts) & the ones I will frame! Thank you again for the teaching you share - it allows me to improve

Eric, right now I'm trying to paint two of my "grandcats" and calling it "Me and My Shadow." The front cat is marmalade orange while the cat sitting behind him is totally black. They are in a position that looks like an orange cat and its shadow, A wonderful setup. I have been cruising cat paintings to help me figure this one out and truly appreciate this painting.

Nicely done Eric! I, like "Paper Sack" would love to see a dog painting. I really like the way you let the painting "fade out" in a very informal manner ... splatters etc. Thank you!

Paul Lekang thanks! I'm not big on pet portrait, but if I ever do one I'll be sure to post it here!

Just finished watching this with my wife. I'm glad you're focusing on KZbin. I enjoyed watching you on snapchat, but I like the permanence of youtube more.

To be perfectly honest, while I love everyone's attempt at painting and certainly appreciate everyone who posts a video in order to teach others; I'd like to see something in this painting that pops out as a "focal" point. All colors in this painting are pretty much the same value as the other. Maybe if the eyes were more in focus that would make for a better composition. TYFS

That's definitely a valid point. I think I could've keep the body of the cat more faded back =)

The interesting thing is you also capture a sense of motion. Don't know exactly how you did that! The soft edges maybe?
@Cafewatercolor7 жыл бұрын
Thank you, well I think the pose itself is a pretty dynamic pose since it's capturing the moment of her motion and the fact that the composition is diagonal also helps. Other than that, I believe it's the loose painting style that gives the sense of motion. I wrote a blog post about it not too long ago! www.cafewatercolor.com/blog/049

Are t cat’s pupils elongated vertically ?
@Cafewatercolor4 жыл бұрын
It depends :) Their pupil will be slim vertically when they see bright light. They do that instead of squint their eyes like we do. In area that's not as bright, their pupils will dilated to round
