I own this phone for 7 months now. I'm a farmer and it works well for me. Flir camera is a very useful tool, once you realise it's potential. For an instance, you can check if an animal has a fever. I have only two gripes. The charging port is not covered. The dirt gets inside and i need to clean it monthly or else it wont charge and a regular camera could be better.
@andersschytt1237 ай бұрын
Hey Mondyone. I've had similar issues. Since I've found a cover that had a small patch I can put over the charging port when I'm done charging. It's actually been working so great that I haven't cleaned the charging port for more than a year 👍🏼
@CyberUtiliaАй бұрын
@@andersschytt123 Thats the best idea! Might even be better as it wouldn't have a bulky plastic connection to the phone to not get lost. And you just leave the cap next to the charger while charging so you don't loose it.
@chrisvaiuso60103 жыл бұрын
Compared to previous CAT phones, they omitted the flap that keeps dirt out of the charging port. That's a big problem for people who use this phone and have dirty jobs. The charging port gets plugged up with dirt and it results in an unpleasant surprise when you realize your phone hasn't charged even though you plugged it in.

@@JY-dh7mk sure it will hold up to being dropped or thrown in the water or all sorts of things but put some pine needles in your pocket or chainsaw shavings in your pocket with the S62 and see what happens. @@chrisvaiuso6010 I'm currently replying to you on an s62 pro, I work off the coast(of western Canada) on basically mountain islands. This phone has been through it all and it's fine, also the flir camera is pretty accurate , +/- 2⁰, the reason I bought this phone is that my old phone, even in an otter box defender still couldn't handle the conditions.
@chrisvaiuso60102 жыл бұрын
@@JY-dh7mk The FLIR camera is great. Without it, the S62 would not be worth the price. My old Kyocera Dura Force took a lot of punishment and held out for 7 years and still works except for a dying battery. But it had a flap on the charging port and I never had problems with crap in the port. Whether you're on an island in the pacific or working on concrete in a NYC subway, if you have the kind of job where dirt, dust sawdust or whatever gets into your pocket, it is necessary to cover the charging port. There used to be one on the S61 but Internet reviewers complained that the flap was annoying, so they got rid of it. I'm not saying it's a bad phone. I like it. But nothing is perfect.

I have had my S61 for about 3 years, and the battery is starting to act up. I just ordered my new S62 Pro. Really love those rugged phones. You just don't have to worry about breaking them. One thing really missing in these reviews is a the performance of the flashlight. These days i hardly ever carry a classic flashlight, i mostly use my phone. It's handy for doing stuff outdoors or indoors where additional light is needed. And (for me) it's also useful for stuff like reading numbers stamped on microchips. On my S61, i have the flashlight function on the programmable button, and i'm planning to do the same on my S62 when it arrives.

How's the S62 been working for you so far! My current phone is dying, and as I am starting to work more and more with electronics, where a thermal cam can be of major help in finding problems, I'm eyeing the S62 - but I've seen some mixed messages that it's not as good as the previous phones.
@ReneSchickbauer Жыл бұрын
@@MrRedwires The FLIR camera works fine and the normal cameras are quite usable for taking all the work related photos i need. Battery life is quite good and the durability of the device is better-than-fantastic. Dropped it many, many times without a problem (concrete, mud). So far, it's still perfectly waterproof, even when i have to work outside in the rain. Now, don't get me wrong, this is certainly a fine work phone. But it's not something you would use if you are an Instagrammer or KZbinr. Or if you want to play the latest and greatest of mobile games. And it certainly has absolutely no coolness factor that you can brag to your friends about. The only (very small) gripe i have that you can *either* have a second SIM card *or* a memory card. I use mine in Dual-SIM mode (work & private) so i only have to carry a single device. And it does that job very well.

@JonDingle3 жыл бұрын
@@djer15 Hello, As it happen I have still got my CAT S61 and I have a CAT S62. If buying brand new a CAT S62 is not much more expensive than a CAT S61. The S61 I prefer in some ways. The S61 has physical buttons across the bottom to select options and modes whereas the S62 has touch screen buttons. The operating system is more or less the same and navigation is very easy too. The FLIR infra red is far superior on the S62 but it doesn't have a laser measuring feature like the S61. There is a small difference in size and design with the S62 being a little bit larger and a better design. You could consider a used S61 (roughly £300 or $400). I don't need my S61 and will probably put it on Ebay just before Christmas to sell it on. The S61 was unreliable at the beginning but CAT sorted it and it has been no problem. The S62 has proven to be stable and reliable with the only exception being video mode in FLIR infra red.The video is a bit jittery to watch back and I cannot Pause in FLIR video either. I have done some welding videos which are on my channel if you want to see what I mean? 99% of my videos are by mobile phone and all the recent videos have been made using CAT S60, 61 and 62 except for a few. I recomend the S61 or S62, it depends which features you prefer. Good luck!

Those things are reasonably priced, fullfill all the functions required in a typical office setting (you know, email, web and actually making phone calls) and so on. To recount an event that happened in IT Support a couple months back (told to me by a friend who workes there): A user, who always had phone accidents whenever Apple released a new phone, was forced to use a ruggedized phone after one too many accidents.
