I have an American bobtail and it's usually very sweet and reserved as well as affectionate, like a doggo and it gets along well with my dogs, one a mixed breed and another a canaan dog. Once an aggressive I believe pitbull(not all of them are aggressive and dangerous by the way please take note, Boston terriers are lovely), approach me and my wife plus our dogs and cat as we were barbecuing outside and our neighbours were outside too and I believe the pit bull belongs to somebody but got loose and it approach us warily yet it started growling at my dogs and and barking at me rather ferociously and all of a sudden it lunge right at one of my dogs and my dog almost instantly fought back while the other kept barking at it and I was grabbing for something to hit the pit bull off with but I still went forward and kick the dog aside and it turned to me and wanted to pounce at me yet hesitant about it and before it could my cat kept flying at it and knock it over with its entire body power and was hissing at the pit bull very aggressively and seemingly ready to go at it again and the pit bull was very hesitant now and slowly going to submissive mode with its tail tucked between its legs at the ferocious display my American bobtail display at it and manage to get the pit bull to back off and run away. The following day the owner came over and apologised from down a couple street from us about his dog that had chewed a hole through the fence in their back yard and went loose. It's very territorial and wary of strangers and if not well acclimatised or socialised to people and dogs he doesn't know, can be very aggressive. It was well socialised to begin with and was undergoing training for it. Now it probably needs further training and for socialisation with cats since my cat definitely hurt the dog's well being a little taking it down the way my cat did and it's now got a fear of cats. Oh well. This is why you got train your dogs well and from a young age, socialising them too with people and other dogs as well as cats but point is, my cat really is protective and bold as a lion like me. Cats are not pushovers. They have got character and I love it. Dogs are definitely but not the only best friend men got. So are cats oh and horses too. Amen.

Cats get killed by coyote all the time, usually when they are elderly and forget that don't move as fast. My tough, ginger bear,Sammie got out at 14 and we live in the wilderness and he never wandered past the driveway, so I know an animal got him. Then two years later my stupid brother-in-law kept letting out their 17 year old kitty with dementia out and of course, she was killed (he was tired of her howling at night because old kitties get disoriented and skerred at night. I think he did it on purpose)
@Godkey110 ай бұрын
To everyone reading this: Please keep your small dogs and cats inside at night if you live in a neighborhood with coyotes, mountain lions or bears. Every year many cats and (small) dogs are injured, killed and even eaten by wild animals; especially coyotes are very dangerous for cats and (small) dogs. If dogs have to go out in your backyard (at night) please keep a close eye on them. This time the coyotes got scared of by this gutsy cat but small animals are not always that lucky! Even during the day coyotes sometimes attack pets and small children! So please be careful with all family members; two legged and/or four legged!

I tried keeping my kitten indoors, but she started acting psycho from the boredom, so I decided to let her go outside whenever she wanted. The neighborhoods we lived in had no coyotes or stray dogs, but I still worried about cars and bully cats. She lived to be 21.5 years old. That's not always the case, but letting your cat outdoors does not mean a death sentence. It does provide the cat with a full, natural, enjoyable life.

An outdoor cat adopted me when I lived in an apartment. She wanted inside, then back out, over and over. I replaced the glass window over a window swamp cooler, with plexiglass that I had the hardware store cut for me. I had a square cut from the bottom for a cat door, taped it back on so it swung in and out. The cat would jump up onto the swamp cooler to come back in, sometimes just sat on it watching birds. She did stay indoors more then, maybe because she wasn't stressed about being able to get back out.

I had a little black female cat years and years ago. I would take her down to my dad's fishing camp and we would stay down there for weeks at a time during the summer, so she became quite familiar with the property boundaries of our camp. One day a friend of my dad's came by and his two Labradors came bounding onto dad's property when out of nowhere, my cat sprang and hit one then the other of those dogs straight in the face and had them tumbling over themselves running away. Dad wasn't much of a cat person, but he got a real kick out of how my cat took on both of those big dogs with no fear. Dad later told me when I wasn't down there with my cat, dogs would poop on his property but never when I and my cat were there. LOL When my cat passed from old age, dad allowed me to bury her at the camp because he said she loved it so much down there.

Good cat. She knows she stood no chance but she braved up. When the coyotes flinched, she continued with her scare tactic, when they ran off she knew not to chase and instead took a parallel escape route to protect herself from the possibility of the coyotes coming back to attack. All I can say is, what a good girl.

Oh yeah people underestimate them. They don't fk around. Me and my child were foolishly floating by ourselves down the river once on inner tubes probably too late in the day and I heard them howling from the left side of the river. I made us paddle right. The were talking to each other I'm sure of it. Walking back to town on the other side of the river miles to the first bridge? That would have gone badly I'm sure of it. Fortunately we got out on the right side and had Mom waiting for us on the road right there. Other side was just desert though no roads until the bridge. At least 2 miles. If I heard 3+ howling I assume there were 10+ of them.
@ericastier16468 ай бұрын
@@Drak976 They certainly saw your child and assessed the situation for dinner. But that said coyotes even though ferocious still aren't as ferocious as leopard in Africa. I happen to just see a leopard killing a jackal about a coyote size. The Jackal was hunting birds and didnt know the leopard was hunting it. When the leopard went for the kill it lasted barely 2 seconds and the jackal was paralyzed from the neck down, precise bite in the neck, and that's with the jackal mounting a maximum defense that you could hear and see but only lasted about ... 0.5 seconds. Now that is one animal that would also virtually kill any of these coyotes or pairs but of course they don't live in the same ecosystem.
