We came from another country as a small kid to Florida in the 70's and the good people embodied a lot of the ethos that we left our home country. Hardworking, honest, God fearing, and overall good people. Our family and many of my childhood caucasian and black friends grew up like this. Unlike what the media and cultural snobs from other parts of the country believe, we really did not have any issues getting along with kids of many skin colors. I miss my home state and hopefully will be back home soon. I hope the state keeps its identity with all the people from other parts of the country flocking to live there with values contrary to what we grew up with. Keep doing society a favor and pass on the knowledge and morals to your girls. The country needs as many people to remember their humble beginnings and less entitled thinking they are owed happiness or that the world is fair, rather making it happen for yourself through your outlook on life and hardwork.

John, this episode reminds me of my grandfather teaching me when I was 8 years old about firearms. So many children get hurt by firearms because they are not taught about them. What you just told your daughter, "You're only allowed to shoot with mommy and daddy", was a similar statement my grandfather told me. When she reaches her teens then you can teach her how to carry with others hunting with her to be safe.

I love your show . You teach your children about hunting and how to always be safe. Also eat what you kill! I called my son today he is ready to go hunting and fishing with me now. It's been many years sense we hunted together.

I grew up in a ghetto in upstate New York my dad taught me how to hunt and fish wild game was a regular on our table. The one food that brings me back to childhood most of all is trout for breakfast I remember my aunt cooking it up for us right after we brought it home. When my late wife was ill I had broken my back and we were flat broke I fed her my fishing it took the phone off it for many years after she passed and I do thank God I was able to provide for her because of what my father taught me. I've been a Floridian since the '80s I moved here for the fishing and hunting now the closest I get to hunting is watching your videos and I just had to post my boat for sale my health is failed to the point I can no longer take it out on my own. I know your daughters will be so grateful as they become adults the lessons you and your wife have instilled upon them.tgbtg!

First let me say, Robert, you and your wife are great parents. NOW let me say that I'm so JEALOUS of these girls to have such an awesome father figure to teach them. As a man that had to grow up without a father this episode really hit home for me, To see the JOY & Excitement in her eyes when she hit the target you can tell these moments will impact her life for all her years to come, and knowing how it feels to not have had this in my life as a child I SALUTE you ROBERT. You and your wife are truly good parents teaching them all the things needed to be God-loving & good people in a world not so good. Keep up the excellent work, and hopefully one day god will make a way for me to come visit you & your family and experience the thrill of the hunt or fishing & the goodness yall give out. thanks, brother ......

My mom was a Great Scratch cook. Curried Meatballs on Rice is still made to this day at one of my 4 brothers places at least once a year. I make it and vac pack it and freeze it. SO GOOOD. My dad loved hunting and fishing. And we were lucky enough that he got stationed in the Interior of Alaska for 4 years. I can tell u that there is nothing better than 2 year old black bear that was berry fed. Dad had to shoot it as it was coming around our house and would not leave. We had a 5 ft tall freezer full of Moose and Caribou and had 5 Caribou hanging in the basement.

Growing up, my grandmother would make squirrel, biscuits and gravy. Us boys squirrel hunted all fall and winter, because we loved it! My grandmother also made squirrel and dumplings. Paw paw also hunted quail, we ate a lot of quail too. In the summer, we worked the farm. I've shucked a lot of corn, and dug a lot of potatoes. We grew almost everything we ate, our own pork, chicken and beef. Watching this brought back a lot of memories. Thanks for sharing this!

My Grandma, when she was young, with her sister and two brothers, lived so country in Illinois, that they were unaffected by the Great Depression. Squirrel, crappie, anything you could catch and cook. And you better believe it was delicious. All natural, which is probably why she and all of her fam lived into their 90's despite some of them smoking cigarettes. What an incredible way of life.
