Bought this record and wore it out 5 or 6 times..Saw him do it IN Concert on ABC when it was new. There was no KZbin then but I always searched for a copy of the performance afterward ...In the mid-80s I worked as the overnight security guard on Saturday evenings at an ABC tv station in Philly. When everyone would leave the station at 3am and I was alone I'd search the vid library to find a copy of the performance..Never did..Now I watch it here and reminisce and smile. The drummer and electric keyboardist( Jean Roussel?), Alun Davies, horn players, everybody right on point. Just amazing.

A masterpiece. What a brilliant live performance of Foreigner Suite. I loved this piece of music from the day it was released back in the 70s. After brilliant 4 "Cat Stevens" albums, this came out of left field with an included postcard. My favourite song by Cat Stevens. Buddha is my favourite CS album. Cat was doing vocal gymnastics before Michael Jackson started singing.

Amazing performance beamed by satellite to over 90 million around the world; Cat Stevens was the superstar of our time--although right after this he began his long, slow withdrawal from the trappings of life in the spotlight.

Mr. Islam, the former Cat Stevens, was grievously underrated as an unbelievably gifted & amazingly unique artist. I discovered his soul-soothing melodies & tender lyrical poetry when i was a deeply traumatized lost young teenager & came to depend on long marathons of his albums to wash away the frequent bouts of pain until i could handle the blackest of my memories. He quite literally saved my troubled life. Now i am 62 years of age, & am living proof that music can sooth the savage beast in us all. Thank you for everything, Mr. Islam. ♡

Dale King: I'm now 64 and experienced much darkness and depression, anxiety due to my parents volitile divorce during high school, coupled with my own father's inability to show love. Music was my main escape during this time. Cat Stevens music became so relateable to myself as well. He truly was so very underated ...but also very unique as well. A deep song writer but also an accomplished musician. Though, I differ in his religious beliefs..he must be respected not only for his talent, but also the fact he did not fall victim to substance abuse...as so many from that era did. His voice even today is amazing and a tribute to his faith!

I don't see how he can be under-rated when he sold millions of albums and had multiple hits around the world over many decades - starting with his Decca years and his most productive Island Record days. Those of us who grew up listening to his music still love it. You must be very young, otherwise you'd know that not only did he have hits with his songs but also many other artists. I've loved his music from the beginning and know he has many fans like me.

Those 18 minutes. Nothing since the Missing Nixon Tapes have been more greatly anticipated! Big time thanks to Paul Pavlides neighbor who got me a brief greeting with Cat at hotel before the Madison Square Garden show. Heckuva gig. Cat's turn to Islamist doctrines and fatwas v. other artists and expressions tougher to wrap head around than Dylan's Rundown Studios Gospel Tent shows that seemed more attuned to the general anti-social malaise of Consumer Identity and finding one's Solid Rock deep down inside oneself and human community reached me. Cat turned Yusuf was bitter pill with no seeming wisdom to help humans mystified, misled, mesmerized by mystifiers, misleaders and malign adversaries to any comfort offering higher power. We needed a working class hero, paradox of that Lennon Lesson was realizing that working class heroes\sheroes don't remain that way if they're lucky enough to have hit songs or profitable access to the Lords of Hi Fi(nance), Hi Tech, Hi Pharma\Life Sci or Telecomm bandwidth in our Pay2Play world that ever concentrates wealth and praises those who preach GREED IS GOOD if that sorta Golden Rule heresy can be weaponized profitably in some Cold War ever turning hot.
