My all time favorite artist, I'm 72 years old and have been listining to him since the late 60's. His albums always hit the number 1 spot in the music stores!!

What a wonderful man, poet, songwriter, musician and champion of human rights. Music is more powerful than a million politicians. Handel got the plot when he wrote the Messiah. Bob Geldolf did a good job too. You can link the arts and charity, equality and fairness. Music speaks to us all.

Have to agree. I grew up in the 70s and had such a great time listening to Cat Stevens and others with my mates. Saving up our pocket money to go to Woolworths on a Saturday morning to buy the latest single. Cleaning mums windows and dads car to save up for an album. I so wish I had saved them. The 70s was a wonderful era to be a kid in. Still love Cat after all these years. Was brilliant to see him at Glastonbury this summer at the age of 74. Still got a great voice and stage presence. God bless him. Hes a beautiful person inside and out 😊

Cat truly is a creative genius. These songs from the 70's are so good, i'm here listening with all of you. I would also like to mention his fellow musicians on these songs, in particular Alun Davies, a wonderful acoustic guitar player/vocalist.

Ahhh. I miss this era so much. I just wish that I would have cherished it so much more, not knowing it would pass so quickly into a more complicated and horrible era. A testimony to the 70s artist's musicianship is the way they could reproduce the studio sound live. An absolutely brilliant concert captured on tape for time immemorial.

Reminds me of way back in '72, I was in 5th grade when I would go to 'music' once a week. We had a music teacher that would pass out the lyrics to Moonshadow, Peace Train' etc. that were made on a ditto machine (remember those?) and we would sing along to the records. It was great fun.

lol. i made them in college. it was cheaper than the copier. in music class, we often heard "blowin' in the wind". i think it was because we could pick the sings and it said "blowin'" in the lyrics... we were stupid kids... but it would have been nice to get an explanation as to what the actual lyrics were about. other favorites were kookaburra, boll weevil, this land is your land, red river valley, and senor don gato. maybe city of new orleans, too. we also did square dancing... god i hated that.
