My ferret had a litter of kits. One afternoon my husband went in to let them out for free-for-all and one of the kids didn't come out. He picked it up. He shook it. He yelled at it. He put it back in the pen and came and got me. Just absolutely crushed that one of the kits had not made it. I told him several times it was okay. It was just asleep. To calm my husband down I went in, picked it up, gave it a rattle and a little puff of air across its face and all the sudden there was this big yawn and both feet rubbing his face. He was so relieved. He didn't believe me when I said sleeping ferrets are almost impossible to wake up at times.
