He must have had a bad experience the days he was gone, but when he returned, he wanted the humans who had been feeding him to be permanent owners. He's a good looking kitty regardless of his condition.

We had a similar experience from the street who did not want to take care of this Kitty so we took her in after we were feeding her for about 2 weeks she would come up to our raised terrace and we would give her food then 1 day she wanted to walk inside and that is the day that we took her to our veterinarian. We had her checked out. She was in real good health and found out she was pregnant and we were lucky she had no fleas or ticks on her. We have named her Shadow and she has since had 2 kittens. We call the 2 kittens Houdini and Sweetums. Houdini is now in the possession of our daughter and her boyfriend living her best life.

This actually happened to the best cat my family ever had. Just showed up on our doorstep out in the "countryside" and just showed us such immediate affection, we put out flyers, noone claimed her (before chips) so we took her to the vet, took her in and she was ours until her passing nearly 20 years later. I used to sleep on the top of a bunkbed and shed climb and scratch her way up the ladder to cuddle at night.

Every block around here has a little group of strays w a lady who will feed them. I go to all the locations and leave catnip and temptations as a special treat. But out front a guy who looks like Boisie has been showing up so he gets fed 2x a day and then leaves. I give nip and treats but he is so cautious. I'm trying to get him to warm up.

I did exactly the same thing with a stray, who had been in and around our garden since she was a kitten. As I continued to feed her, she would let me pet her, then pick her up and then she found the courage to come inside the house. When she stayed overnight for the first time, she slept on top of my bed next to me. When she went back out the next day, she came back and immediately went to my bedroom. She stayed again that night and would never spend another night outdoors for the remainder of her life. She died 8 years ago and I still miss her to this day.

I have a theory that God sends angels we cannot see to cats who have had bad owners or no love at all and tells them “hey kitty, there is a home you must go to, right over there!” And points out a house or apartment or even a homeless person’s tent. Some how cats wind up on the back patio of someone who will love them unconditionally, and that is a miracle.

The first cat that I ever had live within a household I grew up in was a stray, and the weird thing was was that he just ran up to us one night, and stayed with us for the remainder of his life. We never saw him prior, so I don't know how he bonded with us in the process of a few minutes; I am surprised that my mom and step-dad were so quick to keep him. We had him stay outside in our backyard during the night, and he was still there the following day. We only had him for a couple of years, maybe three, before he sadly had to be put down, because he got aids from fighting with another cat.

He knew you would be good for him. I had a similar experience with a Tortie. She was wary at first. Listened for the two doors locks before emerging to eat from the dish, 12 feet away. Then she was happy to eat as I walked back to the house. Then she was happy when I sat beside her. The she enjoyed a head and back rub. Then she turned up with a broken leg after a fall. I got her to the vet and she lost her leg. She lived in a padded greenhouse as she learned to walk again. I took her food and there was a litter tray which was cleaned after every use. Finally her stitches healed and I opened the door. She disappeared for three hours but came back again. It was meal time. Finally, during a cold winter, she protested at being picked up and brought into the house but she stayed in the house until the Spring started. She went back to the greenhouse all through the Summer and Fall. When Wintwr came around again, she returned to the house. She purred loudly and loved to snuggle and loved to be brushed. Sadly, she was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and I had to say goodbye to her. Her name was Kizzy.

@drjonesey54 ай бұрын
Animals have as much autonomy as we say they do. 😂😂😂 They can be taken at any time any place allowed, they don't get to choose. You're applying human logic to an animal. Humans take all kinds of animals for various reasons. Feed, pet, nurse back to health, research, food, skills etc and they have zero say, Lions to Lizards. And whats funny is, had he died the days he went missing, your comment would now all of a sudden be "Why you didn't take him sooner?"by force. But since it worked out well now you're "happy" for the strays "autonomy" to return. So in your mind the streets where strife, disease, fighting, weather, hazards, starvation etc is better for the cat to have "freedom" and make a "choice" to leave it.
