Thanks buddy! I had a job running a cat6 cable for a phone line. Punched down according to your instructions and connected the phone to the cable and cable to the Comcast RJ-11 port and it came up right away. Thanks!

Great job. That was super helpful. Especially the Blue/White=Red, Orange=Black, Blue=Green, Orange/White=Yellow info. Also, thanks for not talking down to us noobs.

Awesome video, I have a house that have cat5e use for telephone, all of my bedroom so I jumped from one bedroom to the next, can I connect the wires in series with female connectors and then on the end use a male connector to a switch?

HI Vitech thanks for this video. Really helpful. I am in a bit of a similar but different situation. I have one pair of Cat 5e (Rest is used by my Security alarm so I can't fiddle with it) running from my attic to my study, where I want to get the data. I have extended another Cat5e running from this single pair to my closet box which is connected to a switch. Right now I do not have a data to my study because I do not know how to pair them. I have green and white green pair that is currently available from my study to the attic and whole 4 pairs available from attic to my junction box in my closet which is connected to the switch. Please help me how to wire this so that I can get data in my study. THanks a lot for you response.

Am RJ11 (telephone) wiring diagram. But without red, black, green, yellow which are the typical colors to use in a normal RJ11 cable. To illustrate that you could use any cable as it just needs to carry a current. Thanks.

what is the name of the company that you bought the high end cat 5 connectors and plugs from at a very reasonable price?

Monoprice.

Why Orange and Blue tho? I thought it was always Orange and Green.

Monoprice is nice in a pinch or shoestring budget but it is definitely not very high quality products by any means. They really are the equivalent of Aliexpress but with warehouses in America. Same level of chinesium products though.

Not true, and I'm about to have to do this. Because I can't run RJ11 130feet from the telephone pole to the second building without some serious degrade issues, not to even account for the issue the power cable and rain will cause the cable. Cat5e can run nearly quadruple the length of an RJ11 cable, and has a shield that will protect it from the power cable and the rain.

I'm not bringing up the gripes most have, I got past them cuz I'm being focused on what I'm trying to accomplish. However, You paired a Ethernet cable for RJ11 on one side using the Orange and Blue pairs and terminated using 568A standard. Why? You didn't explain why it was done with this standard instead of the more popular 568B standard. Secondly, you then come back to the camera later and explain the blue and orange pair equivalents in a RJ11 connection, however my RJ11 cable is reversed so only one side is in a particular order and the other side of it is opposite pinning. I know why I'm just saying it makes it difficult to match things up when you're jumping between two different use cases.

I wanted to give you a thumbs down for having an incorrect title, and crappy video quality. Just change those things and re-upload, then you will have a good video.

Thanks for the constructive criticism, I'll definitely re-do and re-post and will fix the title.
