@@hotbeefo I was climbing in the 60's and 70's (I'm 72 now) My hardest lead was Christmas Curry at Tremadoc after Christmas dinner in the Padarn Hotel Llanberis and a little bit of wine with a dear friend who is no longer with us. We topped out just as the sun was going down and it was bloody freezing, needless to say we were the only ones on the cliff haha. We didn't take ourselves too seriously in those days!

@alexwood3459
@alexwood3459 2 жыл бұрын
@@sgt_timtam8658 I agree. I will say I find it really sad that there isn't more of a sport climbing culture in the UK- moving here from Australia with 3 sport crags within a 10k radius (and that being the norm- maybe a 20k radius for most of the population centres of Aus) made it so easy to go outdoor, just buy a rope and some draws. I haven't been outdoor in forever here and I'm devastated about it- you always need to know someone and go way out of your way, it's at least a whole day trip rather than something I can do after work so even if I had any connected person around I wouldn't have the time. There's so much good rock but such a purest anti-sport mentality means I'll probably never climb outdoor in the UK. Moving to Europe soon and hoping it's a bit better. Hopefully one day I won't be moving somewhere cause that's the only job I can get and will just be able to pick a place I want to live (near climbing) and get a job there. I just miss living in a major city and having outdoor climbing everywhere.
