I did this for clogged cats for my supercharged truck which had long term use of octane booster . I had the P0430 code for under threshold . I didn't heat the water but rather soaked the catted pipes in large containers for a day. They cats were clean after soaking for the entire day. I put them back on the vehicle , cleared the codes and drove it hard for about an hour to get the cats really hot. Did this is January 2019 and still good to this day.

I did this with my 2005 Lexus RX330 with 149,000 miles. Had codes for both cats(upstream and downstream) p0420 and p0430. I tried 2 bottles of Cataclean didn’t work, replaced downstream oxygen sensors didn’t work. Tried the sea-foam directly into the cats without removing them and didn’t work. I am a chemical engineer and read the whole cientific article/experiment made by these two guys in Europe and it made perfectly sense to me. Achieved the exact 0.1M for both citric and oxalic acid (reagent grade from ebay) concentration. I maintained a 50 Celsius Temperature and moved the cats up and down 6-10 times every 30 min and ran clean water every hour for 5 hours. The check engine light and the codes cleared out and I just passed my Smog check here in CA!

I found the same industrial maintenance paper on cleaning catalyst back in about 2006, cleaned the converters on my car and passed emissions. PAPER; Reactivation of an aged commercial three-way catalyst by oxalic and citric acid washing Environ Sci Technol. 2006

This technique helps to clean all catalytic converters affected by contaminant and carb deposit. I did this just to see if this technique works but it ended up being permanent solution for me! The basic idea here is - These two organic acids are good solvents for catalytic converter contaminants mentioned in this video and carb deposit. Sory about my language and the video quality ( Shot it with cellphone)

We are going to try the same, or similar process as you. Do you have a fulltext of study you are following? In newer study of same author is focused only on oxalic acid as most efficient one. I appreciate any feedback - it is more than two years you did cleaning process. Thanks

😮Anthony’s Citric Acid powder (5lbs): $18. Cheapo 12 Quart pot: $9. Savogram Wood Bleach (340ml @ 95-100% Oxalic Acid): $8. Bottled water (5gal): $7. Propane use: maybe two dollars-worth. Candle-making thermometer: borrowed for free. The formula & procedure: Caution: do this outside in a well ventilated area and wear gloves and goggles. The acid is not particularly caustic, but you don’t want to get it on stuff unnecessarily. Also, while heating it produces a smell that would not be pleasant inside-and that might indicate something unhealthy. Formula: Per gallon of water I used 75ml citric acid and 50ml Oxalic acid. Procedure: I placed the CAT in my cheapo 12 quart pot. Two and a half gallons water nearly reached the brim and completely covered the catalytic converter inside the housing. So I mixed 190ml Citric Acid and 125ml Oxalic Acid with the 2.5 gallons water. Ideal temps for the solution are said to be 150-160* F for six hours. In 2016 the tempertures were higher than recommended (185 or 190) most of the time. In 2018, I got it just right. This second time I lifted and submerged the CAT in/out of solution six times each half hour to ensure flow through the substrate
