Is this more efficient way of producing heat than just burning the acetone? Maybe if you have a hollow copper coil glowing like that and small amount of water running throught it to heat some water?

What kind of temperaters are we seeing? Can i heat my tent with a midified version ? I would put a square tube of metal above the penny or someting larger in size and put a fan in one end and push out warm air out the other end with the copper near the center of the tube. Think it might produce any heat?

How was the copper oxidized exactly? Was it the acetone's vapors? The heat and oxygen?

For the "5 P's" - I've always preferred the more edgy alternative: "Prior Preparation Prevents a Piss Poor Performance".

"Proper Planning Prevents Piss-poor Performance" is how I heard it. Apparently piss-poor counts as one P.

Would this reaction still take place if acetone vapor were circulated through the inside copper coil tubing that has been heated?

yes, its the same principle

The original Gettysburg’s address spoken by Lincoln he says seven scores and sever years ago history books say four scores

The original Gettysburg Address spoken by Lincoln was spoken in 1863; 87 years after the signing of the Decoration of Independence. A score is 20 years. If Lincoln said '7 score and 7 years ago,' he would be referencing the year 1716...50 years before the first American president and Revolution and a quarter century after Columbus 'discovered' the New World. I don't think Lincoln was referring to 7 and a half scores earlier.

I thought this reaction produced ketene, which is extremely toxic, similar to phosgene? If so, fume hood may be a good idea indeed. Anyway, is surface of the penny effected in any way? Copper oxide is pretty valuable to those who treasure conductive ceramics. I guess not, Cu is only catalyst, right? In that case the glowing penny could still make a nice night lamp.

yeah ketene lamp, ketene is incredibly toxic

Friend, I suspect someone has passed you a counterfeit penny.

I wish it looked red hot instead of just looking like a regular penny
