Right now we're a few months behind where we originally anticipated, just because July had us running out of supplies, and August was too hot to work full days. Having Ryan and Burt there helped us pick back up a few weeks, but now we're anticipating a fall 2023 splash, instead of summer.

The boat is really starting to look beautiful, as the larger pieces come together! Using straps for a large heavy piece is exactly the way to move stuff; it's far easier than you'd think. This is an important episode, everyone that may be interested in building a MC-42 can see the speed with which the process moves with just two additional workers. Kudos to Ryan and Burt for coming to help! Your neighbor "Breezin' Thru" looks like an old Schnellboot; for a power craft, it will just sip fuel. It's a very interesting design. You guys should be very proud of your accomplishments so far!

Don't know if you've already attached stern section, but I was going to suggest tilting it up and into place just above the section where it is bonded.. leaving a gap so it can later be lowered into contact with bonding methacrylate. I'm thinking a set of 3 2x4's overlapped so middle extends opposite other pair... kinda like an adjustable crutch...
@MJSailing

It has already been attached, and the guys found some really cool ways to easily move it around. I'm editing next week's episode right now, and I've found it so intriguing that I'm on 8 minutes of footage just to get it lifted on the deck, lol. I had a good look at the ceiling while the camera was pointed up there for an idea on how to get the transom piece up to where you need it and for the rest of the pieces you need to get on top of the boat. get two snatch blocks to hang on the ceiling there so you can pull any piece you need up. Probably would speed up any installation you need to do up top. Maybe even mount 4 snatch blocks for each corner of the boat. One pulley will reduce lifting force by 50%. Two pulleys will reduce it by another 50% and so forth.

This video is a year old, so it doesn't matter now but.. They could of just used a two by four from one jack to the other, that way they could have had equal upward pressure all across the beam, and they wouldn't have needed to put extra holes in their Catamaran.. I don't know why, but for me that is often the hardest part of watching this series, watching someone put unnecessary holes in their boat. Every hole is just another place where they could get a leak, if not right away then down the road. They are weak points, and I can't help but twitch every time they do it lol.
@MJSailing
@MJSailing Жыл бұрын
All the holes get fiberglassed again and won't create leaks. The seams need steady and equal pressure to create a fair surface and the only way to do this is to drill the seams as shown. Otherwise we'd have even more fairing of the exterior with uneven alignment.
@lfaf9509
@lfaf9509 Жыл бұрын
@@MJSailing Don't get me wrong here, I am aware the holes get fiberglassed again, and they won't likely leak right away... But they are weak spots which down the road are more likely to leak than the spots you didn't put holes in. I did describe a way of putting equal pressure al across the seam without using the screws. So it wasn't the only way possible, it was likely just the only way you thought of at the time. You are doing a great job, much better than I could ever do, and just like with all other things, "pobody's Nerfect". :)
