What do you think of castor oil? I have heard that it is good for the itchy sand in the eye feeling some get with cataracts, plus, some swear by it to actually "moisturize" the hard cataract to the point that it begins to break up. I warm the castor oil in the cup of my hands and gently cup the hand over the eye to transfer it. My old dog tolerates it well and I think he feels it's helping.

I'm new to your channel and wanted to say that I have a 9 year old Boston Terrier/Chihuahua that I've had since he was 5weeks old. ...and what pretty eyes you have, Dr Jones! Q: What would cause the white of the eye, along with the iris and pupil to disappear? It was a week before my dog died. It was really scary looking. The eye was completely black (or clear) and had gold, like "real" gold, flat, square, flakes floating inside his eyeball. He had become totally blind as this developed over several days. My vets seemed pretty freaked out, and said they'd never seen anything like it. They never could definitively say why he died. All of his blood tests were normal. Poisoning or cancer were suggested as the cause. He had been dealing with both. A 10-pound internal tumor (attached to the pancreas) which had shrunk to nothing over a few months using CBD oil and other natural supplements, AND he had high blood pressure. Their guess was the tumor shrank, but the cancer had "probably" attached to his brain stem/spine and was still affecting him, along with the high blood pressure. The eyes were so odd... Hi. I rescued my dog 2 years ago and I found out she has cushings disease and diabetes as well and literally over this past weekend she went blind. I made an appointment with the vet within the next day. She told me to go to an eye specialist. I wanted to do surgery for my dog but he was 14 years and during lockdown so the chance to do it was risky for his age keeping in mind that Nemo had a glaucoma but got reversed with eye drops and cbd oil and he got uveitis. Darn, you do such a good job explaining the eye parts and showing it on your dog. I wish you'd have touched base on the difference of nuclear sclerosis vs cataract on your dog's eye ball. My dog's iris part where your dog has it white..where it constricts and dilates, on my dog it doesn't constrict & dilate.. it just stays dilated.. and whitish cloudy. Seems like he's pretty blind.. running into the wall. I'm wondering if it's cataracts or Nuclear sclerosis. I heard with Nuclear sclerosis they can still see and navigate.. but my dog is running into the wall and he can't even see big treats in front of his face. Guessing he needs surgery...assuming he has advance senile cataract. He's about 11-12yo. Can't tell if it's diabetes but he's an extremely skinny skinny dog. Some puppies can develop cataracts. They can be removed. You’ll have to take him to the vet to get a referral for an animal eye doctor.

Hello Vet Secrets, I had no idea there were so many homeopathic medicines to give dogs with cataracts. My 12 year old yorkiepoo has developed a fairly cloudy cataract in his left eye and so far smaller in hiss right eye. I feed him a wet can dog food as he had to have all his teeth removed a year ago due to poor teeth and gum health. Poor guy just goes and goes and loves to play fetch and go outside still. He's had recent blood and urine test and everything looks good my vet just says it's normal in aging dogs. I know I'll never afford the $5 - $10,000 for any cataract surgery, if that was feasable for him. What would you recommend as a natural medicine to slow down the progression. I'm sorry, I know you mentioned so many, I just worry I don't want to do the wrong one, and my vet wouldn't recommend any homeopathic stuff. I also give him CBD oil for his anxiety with loud sounds, lightning or long road trips. Thankyou for your time in reading this.

My Yorkie is 11. He got Diabetes 2 years ago. I immediately switched him to a raw diet and his diabetes is very much under control and no problems at all. He did get chataracs though and about 1 year ago went completely blind. Is it worth me getting surgery at his age? Do dogs know that they are blind? I know thats a silly question, i guess im asking does him being blind upset him? Depression? Its been really hard with him not being able to see :(

What is your opinion of can c i have been using that for about two weeks now for my aging dog and he seems to be able to see better but at night not so much. Is this stuff real or am i just fooling myself?
