Usually when a bass miss my frog and makes a hole through the weeds/algae i do a followup cast with either a jig or a texas rig. Works like a gem!

If the mat isn’t too much, throw a wacky rig in that hole. You know he’s there, just have to give him a more finesse presentation after he just spent all that energy missing your frog

Hey i was wondering your opinion on the best topwater frog for walking? i grabbed the livetarget and the pad crasher.. livetarget has arms so its hard and the pad crasher seems to be a little difficult for me.. im thinking maybe a very flat smooth bottom would be best like the spro? have u used the terminator frog? any help would save me from more debating
@Wired2Fish7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tyler, the Terminator Walking Frog is a great option as is the original SPRO Bronzeye Frog. Here's a Rapala Walking Frog Jr. video that really covers down well on their Walking Frog lineup: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3aYk6pjhJdqq8U

Seems like a good idea man, I never get bites, I own 5 frogs and none of them have every produced a strike, your video may have just showed my why, I can see how low the sun is hitting you so it must be very early, I have been trying all summer but I think frogs must be a dawn and dusk bait that does not work very well in other parts of the day. Each time I commit my self to 2 full hours of frog fishing divided up by the spots I think they will work and all I get is some casting practice, so I must be doing something very wrong, now its too late in the season due to the cold killing the vegetation off here in michigan. Any advice for next season?

Sounds like you're giving frogs a good stroke. Not sure what the issue is. You can have frog success on most grass lakes, or ones that setup with good shallow water cover anyways. Early am is always best, but you can have regular action throughout the day, especially in dingy lakes. If you're fishing clear lakes, I prefer hollow body frogs best during the post spawn, which is around the 1-2 week of may for us in MN, and through the 1st week of June. Early am can remain productive on clear lakes throughout the summer however. You'll also see a good fall frog bite that coincides with the frog migration, Sep well into Oct on some lakes and rivers. Keep at it, watch the other videos in our Frog Fishing playlist, and we think it'll come together for you. -Ryan

I will give it a try, the hardest thing to over come now is my lack of faith in the bait due to its ultra poor performance so far.

detroit hiker lack of faith it the bait? More like lack of skill in yourself LOL

I've been fishing frogs for a few years now, but whenever I get a bite it's almost an unnoticeable little pluck on the surface when the fish tries to grab it, I'll wait 2-3 seconds and reel down then set the hook only to have my frog come flying back at me. I live in Eastern Pa. and I never seem to have a fish strike any top water bait violently, it's always been very subtle strikes. I'm just wondering if I'm doing something wrong here, so far I caught one pickerel when throwing a frog.
@Wired2Fish7 жыл бұрын
Those sound a lot like pickerel bites and you will miss as many of those as you catch because they have such hard bony mouths.

How about just let the fish eat the frog on the first cast and if he misses let it sit and he will come back and get it if you are smart enough not to rip it far away from him. Cmon pro fisherman you know this! Go ahead and make 2 cast to catch one fish in a time limit event. Smh

@marcusyoung28705 жыл бұрын
Stop waiting and hit those fish. If they have it, they can spit it out faster than you can blink. If the fish keep missing your frog, change the color.
