Awesome lesson, Keith. My frog-box is looking like a line of race-horses at the start-gate!!

Keith makes a great point on popping frogs! I never saw the infatuation with popping frogs. I know they're a good option at times; a mayfly hatch, when bass feed heavily on bluegills, for instance. The fact remains that the trade-off of sound vs. weedlessness is one I'm simply not going to make 95% of the time. That's generally the whole reason I employ a frog; for it's ability to come through ANYTHING without snagging. Good stuff! 🐸

Poppin frogs are for open log areas, stumps, etc. not grass and weeds. I'd rather use a whopper plopper or buzzbait in those situations, but sometimes they just want that darn frog.

65lb braid
@JaylenEban2 ай бұрын
If u don’t hear drag and you see them easily tugging fish under 10 pounds more than likely using heavy braid
@CaseyLewis4426 ай бұрын
Was that straight braid? If so what pound test?
@Wired2Fish6 ай бұрын
Yes, straight braid. Keith was using 50lb, but one could always bump up to 65lb for even heavier applications. You can find the braid here: www.tacklewarehouse.com/Spiderwire_DuraBraid_Braided_Line_Moss_Green/descpage-SWDB.html

A high speed reel is always better for frogs. You are fishing a very limited target zone, you want to be able to cast alot, you also need to be able to reel in the line fast to hook set and lastly retrieve the fish fast to keep it out of muck.
